    Default Audi Cancels Electric A-2 and A-1 Entended Range E-torn

    Despite coming late to the party and being able to take advantage of design put forth by other manufactures, Audi determines they can't design something competetitive. Not surprising coming from a company who calls the Volt a car for idiots.

    they have too much invested in diesels, just look at their racing program.

    Wonder how much data from teh fleet of 20 undergoing testing help them convinced them its harder than it looks.
    Lots of arm-chair engineers saying how the Volt is not that great and would be better if....

    The more we learn about what others do, the more we learn how far ahead GM and the Volt really are.

    Audi determined it was easier to dismiss the Volt than to build a car that competes.

    But the latest diesel Audi Le Mans prototypes use electric assist (recovery) systems. Looks like Audi management is backing away from the technology and the hybrid racing prototypes may just race for this year only.

    BMW, meanwhile, is all-in on electric. This includes an EREV and an engineering partnership on certain electric technologies with GM. Looks like BMW is ready to open up a huge technological lead on its bitter rival, Audi, in this space.

    Suddenly, I have Paul Simon singing 'Kodachrome' in my head. The idiots at Audi sound like the same idiots at Kodak who stuck with film until it was too late. If I had any Audi stock, I would put it up for sale NOW. Uninspired leadership, to say the least.

    After owning three VWs over the last 10 years I would have to think that a VW/Audi with the complexity of a Volt (with respect to systems integration and so on) would be an absolute nightmare. All three of our vehicles consistently had the check engine light on after 50 K miles and at 100 K began to disintegrate (literally). Until the company can figure out how to make a vehicle last past 100 K I think it best to avoid a completely new technology.

    This may be off-topic but Kodak produced the world's FIRST Digital Camera in 1975, and stopped producing film in 2004, before the others (Fuji, Afga, etc.) did. So those "idiots" were not at Kodak. Here is the whole story:
