Thread: Less than 400 miles and SEL on :(

    As an update, I reseated the gas cap yesterday (thinking that perhaps I hadn't tightened it enough) and this morning the check engine light was off.

    Hopefully it was just me filling the car in ~110F and not resealing the gas tank properly. I'll update if it happens again.

    @ BadMagic,

    Definitely keep us updated. Sorry to hear about this issue, especially so early into your ownership. Hopefully this is a one time issue and you can continue to drive issue-free.

    Just an FYI the car has spent the last few days at the dealership after throwing the following codes:
    P0411-00
    P02033-00
    P02031-00
    P0A4-00
    P1E00-00

    They ended up replacing the secondary air injector solenoid and the charge door. Hopefully this solves the issue.

    Does anyone have a list of what the problem codes actually mean?

    Your problem sounds like the exact opposite of mine. Your volt doesn't want to drive on gas, mine didn't want to drive on electricity. My CEL light came on and the car refused to take a charge. It's since been fixed and now have proudly joined the 40+ mile club. My gripe was that it took the dealership nearly 3 full weeks to fix it and the last week I had spent with a GMC Canyon pickup truck as a loaner vehicle.

    If I fault the dealer for anything it's that they went for the issues that were most likely NOT the cause of the problem but were more profitable for them(e.g. the side impact battery case reinforcement) but also took longest for the parts to show up and perform and SURPRISE, did not correct the issue. Eventually they replaced the charging unit in the car and it's been trouble free since.

    If I had to do it over again I would have done some more research on the issue first and eschewed the battery case upgrade UNTIL they had fixed the charging issue. Listen carefully to the repairs that they recommend and challenge them if you think that they do not pertain to your issue.

    Call a Volt Advisor FIRST before you take it to the dealership. I had the feeling that towards the end they were seriously leaning on the dealership because the dealership reimbursed me for the gas I burned in the Volt and my IBM Pickup-truck(big&blue) loaner.

    Good luck.

    @BadMagic,

    Glad to hear you have your Volt back, and hopefully that replacement will solve the issue. Enjoy your Volt and let us know if you run into any further issues.
