Default Has anyone compared the Buick Verano with the Chevy Volt?

After reading many Volt-to-Cruze comparison, and frankly they are apples-to-oranges comparisons. I was wondering if anyone has test drive a Buick Verano? The MSRP of a Verano is $22.59k, and it seems more of a higher level than the Cruze.

Frankly, I am thinking if you take out the "EV" features out of the Volt, you may be getting a Buick Verano. But, I only thought it from seeing a comericial, and I have not tried a test drive myself. Futhermore, I think someone on the forums suggested that the Verano would be a close match.

Cruze, Verano, Volt all are built on the same chassis. That's where the similarities end. The Buick Verano is said to be the target Voltec for the Buick line. Make no mistake about this, I'll be buying one. Perfect. I'm keeping my Volt though. Love the drive. The Verano will bring that added quiet at highway speeds.

Taking the electric drive out of the Volt is like taking wireless out of an iPhone. What would you have?

My daughter just bought a 2012 Cruze LTZ and everyone that has seen it close up and have driven it, love it. I can see where the basic goodness in the Volt comes from. The Buick has more color options both exterior and interior and the gage pod looks nicer.

I would assume it has a higher level of sound deadening and NVH elimination too. It's a Buick after all.

I can see this as the first step in laying the foundation for a Voltec version. GM/Chevy could take the Volt back into traditional Chevy market segment and Buick and Cadillac getting their versions.

Buick Verano is said to be the target Voltec
I was not able to find this using Google. Where did you read this?

The only known Voltecs using the Delta II platform are: Chevrolet Volt, Opel Ampera, Cadillac ELR, and Opel Flextreme. The Cadillac Provoq is a Voltec, but uses the Theta platform. Note:

    Delta II platform:

There is an MPV5 concept vehicle, which may become the Chevrolet Strobe. Someone noticed the patent drawings have been filed:

From a features and size stand point the Verano would be the closest to a Volt in my opinion for a comparable ICE vehicle. If the Volt wasn't available I would seriously consider the up and coming Verano with 2.0 turbo (or an eAssist Version).

I am a Buick fan, and I owe a 1995 Regal. If Buick sells a Voltec vehicle, the name shall be "Electra", since it was once one of the best Buick sedans, which became the Ultra and Park Avenue before that line ended in 1990. Now it is time for the "Electra" name to return!

I'd love to see a creative return of the Electra as an EV of some sort. The rumors I've read say they're getting the Opel Ampera as a Buick, but we'll see.

I agree, something old and something new. There's a lot to be said for tradition, a Voltec named ELECTRA just makes so much sense, the ad copy and marketing almost write themselves. GM please do it.
