Default Buy now or wait for the 2013???

Seems to be a lot of 2012 Volts left on dealers lots in Minnesota. Dealers are dealing (selling at invoice) but is there any reason to wait until the new 13s come out. Or should I wait until the 2013s come out and hope to get a better deal on a 2012model.

You might want to push for a deal of $1K below invoice at the end of May. The main change in 2013 is the hold mode and also the re-worked electronics system/Nav. And the same-color roof-paint.

I agree, also want to add the black panel in the rear below the hatch opening is suppose to be body color and I believe the black trim under the windows are to be body color as well from what I've read. Not sure if its standard trim or the blackout treatment is an option or not.

I think the 2013 will not have the Hard Drive that stores around 10,000 songs....

I'm curious about the roof & trim. Is it an option to get the black roof & paint on the windows or is it only body color now? I really like the way the black roof and window paint goes with my Silver paint & dark tint! I knew it reminded me of something & I realized the other day that it's the same color scheme as my Macbook Pro!

There is no indication from the currently available 2013 information that the black roof and rear gate will be an option. In a recent interview Bob Lutz said the reason for the black paint was because GM was considering offering PV cells on the roof. But Lutz was generally dismissive of the value of a solar roof and implied it would not happen on the Volt. We'll hopefully find out for sure when ordering info is made available to the public later this month or next. Given the design of the windshield and rear window, I don't think the black paint scheme on the roof is as noticeable as that on the tailgate. And I personally like the contrast from the back.

Of course, if you're in love with the idea of black roof, you can always take the car to a quality painter and roll your own. Contrary to popular opinion, it's possible to get a better-than-factory paint job. And surfaces like the roof are relatively easy to prep.

The answer to this question may depend on how long you intend to keep the car. If you intend to lease it I'd get a 2012. You should be able to get a decent price and right now the lease deal is a killer. If you intend to keep the car until the wheels fall off I'd get a 2012. The price will probably be right and you might as well start enjoying yourself now. But if you intend to keep it for five or six years then what you save getting a MY 2012 you'll lose on the back end selling a MY 2012.

Do you mean 2013 for if you intend to keep the car until the wheels fall off?

I'm personally waiting for MY2013, I think hold mode is a pretty big addition, plus I like to stream music from my phone, so mylink with sat nav is also an important addition. I do like the black roof of the 2012's though, wish they kept that as an option(never was a huge fan of the black tailgate, so that's not a huge loss for me).

If you have the NAV package, your Volt has 30G worth of internal storage. If you do not, it has none. But in either case, it can store an unlimited number of songs through an external USB storage device.
