Default Need advice on dealer issue with battery upgrade

I dropped my Volt off at my deal (Fox Chevrolet of Timonium, MD) for the battery upgrade two days ago. Evidently they had neither the parts and equipment nor the training to this work until now -- long after many other dealers.

At the time i dropped off the car they told me it would take 3-4 days to do the job, which is far longer than the two days which seem to be norm. I afraid they'll be doing their first upgrade on my Volt and they'll be learning at my expense, which gives me some real anxiety. I don't have much confidence in this dealer to begin with and this just adds to my concern.

Should I complain to my Volt Advisor or just let it go?

I'd call and cancel until I was comfortable. Taking the car and then ordering the parts strikes me as rude.

I'm with don.. though I'd actually try to find a different dealer. That is unprofessional and not a good sign.
Even worse if you called before you dropped it off (which is what I will someday do).

Maybe I didn't state this right. About 2 months ago I contacted Fox about this, around the time GM said the dealers would be ready to do this upgrade. But Fox told me they weren't ready. Then about 2 weeks ago they called to say they were ready and I made an appointment. It was only when I brought the car in at the appointed time that they told me the work would take 3-4 days. It's the amount of time that they'll take to do the job that's my source of concern. Why twice as long as most other dealers? As they already have the car and appear to have already removed the battery (can't make an Onstar connection) I suppose I don't have many choices.

I made an appointment and I have five items -- software upgrade, the pole impact satisfaction, the charger cord, the driver side airbag, and a rattle. The estimated time was one day, maybe at the outside two. This is pretty good because I think the software upgrade takes a while. Three or four days seems like a very long time.

Of interest is that they said the driver side airbag was an inspection and that so far they had found zero issues. They seemed confident about how long all the standard stuff would take, the only problem they weren't sure about on the time was the rattle, and I can understand that.

Exactly. All the other dealers I'm aware of do this in a max of two days. Fox is only a few miles from my house so it's very convenient, but I'd give up some convenience for confidence and time.

Mine is in for the battery enhancement now, at a dealer that's done at least 6 of these before. I dropped it off yesterday (Monday) morning, and I'm now being told that it probably won't be ready until Thursday. I'm not thrilled with the length of time it's taking, but it is what it is. I'm confident they'll do a good job.

The reason for the longer time is they will be going slow to make sure it is done correctly. I'd be more worried if this was their first and they were saying one day.

+1 on that. Having it done is nice, having it done right is priceless.
