Just wondering if anyone else has experienced this or similar.
My car is usually always under cover but today I had to make a trip and the car ended up sitting outside, facing east, in the sun for about three hours. I should have put my screen in the windshield but didn't think I'd be that long. Temps were upper 80's but it was a cloudless sky.
Anyway, upon leaving, everything was normal for about 30 seconds when the audio shut down, had been playing music from the HDD. Couldn't select radio or HDD, Nav and most of the other center stack controls were non-responsive as was the touch portion of the center LCD. Fortunately climate controls (other than the touch portion on the LCD) and drivability were unaffected. An immediate shutdown and restart accomplished nothing. I contacted OnStar after getting on the road to see if they could "pull" any codes not thinking that they were limited to propulsion, air bags, brakes, etc. but the car didn't report any problems as this isn't a module that OnStar can monitor.
Anyway, my hope that it was simply heat related seems to have been the case as after getting home after about an hour drive with A/C on, powering down the car for a few minutes and restart, everything seems back to normal.
The sophistication of today's vehicles certainly lend themselves to issues we never use to have but I don't "think" I would have expected something like this.
