Default Scared I'm stuck with the clunky/growly/grinding breaks.

Ok, I'm a new volt owner and I also have the clunky/growly/grinding breaks that send vibrations to the break pedal. I test drove several on the dealers lot and non of them exhibited this problem except the one that I purchased. I picked it because it had the colors and options that I wanted. When I pointed out the issue to my salesman he stated that I could pick out one that doesn't make the noise or keep the one with the options I want and they would fix the issue. I did make an appointment and the service rep did state that it was not like the other Volts and had the manufacturer of the "brake boost valve" come out. He stated that they need to make a program change and that my volt advisor would be in contact with me when a fix is ready. The service ticket was left open. That was three weeks ago and the way my advisor talked it seemed like it would only be a week. It is tedious because I have a lot of people at work who are riding/driving my Volt when we go to lunch and the first thing they notice is the vibration in the pedal and most take their foot off the brake when they feel it. I told my Technician about the BPMV being the issue in other Volts and he stated that he called GM and they told him specifically not to replace the BPMV. Seems to me that they have an issue with these valves and instead of changing all of them out (costly) they want to put in special software on the ones with the bad valves to cover up the issue. Left Hanging.

I just picked up my 2012 volt this Saturday and am also getting the growling break pedal. The dealer let me drive a 2013 for a day while we were waiting for mine to be delivered. There was no sign of noise or vibration in the 2013. I talked to a volt advisor and will be stopping by the dealership tomorrow to have the issue looked at.

Ok, while I'm waiting for a software update (see above) I had another issue with the brakes and was wondering if others who have had the noisy brakes are also experiencing this. I was parked on about a 20% grade when I started my car with my foot firmly on the brake and put it into reverse. I immediately started rolling down the hill as my brake pedal fell to the floor. It was about 2-3 seconds before the pedal came back up and got some pressure behind it and I was able to stop. I had rolled out of the drive and into the street. This was probably the first time that I had started the car on any type of significant grade. This has troubled me and now I always have my finger close to the emergency brake if I'm on any kind of a hill. This could have been tragic because I was at the local High School with students around and was glad no students were standing behind my Volt when she took off down the hill.

I just picked up my 2013 Volt and noticed when I start it the brake pedal goes all the way down then comes back up. I wasn't sure if it would have any actual effect on if the brake was applied or not, but sounds like it does. I haven't tried it on a hill yet. My driveway has a slight hill, maybe I'll park on the steepest part and test it. I did put the parking brake on when I first got home since I was at the top of the hill, just in case.
