Default Charging Station for Workplace Help

Does anybody know of any government sponsored/grant charging stations that I can recommend to my workplace that would assist with the cost of getting several installed. I work at a Veterans Hospital and this topic has become a hot bed with some folks totally against it (Republicans) and others such as the person that we have at our site that sits on the National GEMS Green Environment Committee which is all for it. I'm going to make a presentation at the next Environmental meeting on why we should have EV charging stations as well as if possible some solutions to off-set the cost. Anything that anybody has will be helpful. I swear people think this car is the boogie man of cars.

I believe there's currently a 50% tax deduction for businesses. There's definitely some percentage tax deduction or even tax credit for businesses presently, and this is the last year it's in effect. I can't remember the details but will try to look tonight when I'm at home.

Illinois is offering up to $3000 per station installed at workplaces, but it is a Illinois state refund, and not Federal. So, unless you are driving to Illinois to work during the day (as some of my co-workers do), this info is useless to you. However, as a long term plan, maybe you could contact the Wis. state legislation, and prod them a little saying other states are offering some type of rebate program to businesses for installing charge stations??
I just re-read your post....Maybe this info would be helpful during your presentation.
I believe the Illinois rebate states your charge station must be installed and operational by June or July of this year. So, the program is ending soon.

    Default Fees

Offer to pay a fee for using it. That way you can argue for it on the basis of reducing oil imports and counter any suggestion that you just want it to reduce your gas expenses.

If you work at a VA, it's the federal gov't, and they aren't eligible for a refund. To my knoweledge, the DOE grant program date for giving out the chargers has ended.

Tell them top future employee talent looks at the green level of potential employers and they lose future top talent. I donated the Spx and the employer paid $250 for the install. They pay the$25 per month electricity. Have it as courtesy EV spot open to any employee that needs to charge. This eliminates backlash. If presenting, tell them you wish to stop sending your money to oil dictators that want to harm us and you'd like the company to support that.

Default This is an interesting topic in the government space

I have the same issue where I work. Not going to happen.

I spoke to someone a few weeks ago who works at NIH. He may have discovered a "work around." He's working with his credit union (a private entity) to support their EV infrastructure initiative, even if limited to 110 outlets.

I'm hoping to get more information from him to utilize. He is a member of EVA/DC (Doron Shalvi).

Here's some more info from Doron:

With respect to the original poster's question, I think the way to approach this issue is as follows:
    1. Attempt to find nearby potential charging locations on commercial property, and work with the property owner to install charging stations. This could work well in the federal facility is leased from a commercial property owner. In this case the federal government is not involved in the arrangement.
    2. If the federal facility is on federally-owned property, such as at NIH, this is a tougher nut to crack since there is no specific authority (congressional legislation) that allows the federal government to provide electricity (or seek reimbursement) for personal transportation expenses arising from employee commuting. In this case, an interested third-party, such as a parking management company (in DOE's case) or a credit union (in NIH's case) could be used to fund the program and collect payment.

See https://federalfleets.energy.gov/fed...ments/guidance , "Employee Use of Federal Agency Electric Vehicle Charging Stations", for general guidance on this issue. In a nutshell, their advice is that "each agency's general counsel must determine appropriate and legal use of agency electric vehicle charging stations".

I also recommend that charging stations be NOT located in prime locations, to avoid charges of favoritism, and that there be a cost recovery mechanism, to avoid charges of getting something for free from the government.

Finally the poster should consult this website for a lot of good info which could help his case: http://www.aprs.org/EXorder-EVs.html . This was put together by Bob Bruninga, another EVADC member.
