I like my quiet VOLT. I am also aware it is rather quiet as I pass people, etc. I do the same when I ride my bike. I think the artificial noise might be an early reaction to EV vehicles. I think maybe over time it will go back to quiet is good.

Afterall think how quiet our cities would be if everyone owned an EV. People woud love cities even more if they had quiet cars. The potential is amazing when you think of the power of an EV or plug-in vehicle.

Anyone remember this 'gem' of an ad for VW's? I hope that we're entering an era where instead of the loudness of your engine proclaiming your.... 'endowment' that the lack of noise is the sign of strength.

Jeeez, we have some yahoo who runs up my street in some vehicle that can't be legal that rattles the windows as he goes by 20mph over the limit.

Anyone know where I can get a 'spike strip?' Preferably one that doesn't retain fingerprints that well?

Adding noisemakers to EVs has got to be one of the dumbest ideas of the last few years.

One year the greens started shouting, "WIND TURBINES, WIND TURBINES! WE NEED WIND TURBINES TO SAVE US FROM ANTHROPOGENIC GLOBAL WARMING! REPENT! REPENT!!"

Soooooo, up go the wind turbines, and demands for subsidies for wind turbines, you can now pay extra on your electric bill in some places for electricity that comes from wind turbines. yada yada yada....

BUT NOW the greens say: WIND TURBINES ARE KILLING THE BIRDS!!!

The point being that one year it's put upon everyone to do SOMETHING and that the next year, having done that something, there is something bad about it. People were saying 'use electric cars and hybrids' and now electric cars and hybrids are slaughtering blind people because they can't hear them coming.

They should let us use popular ringtones, like a cow mooing, crickets, gunshots or fart noises.
