Even if his insurance was current, the claim will probably cause the insurance company to drop him like a hot potato or at minimum, significantly increase his rates.
My guess is this is not the owners fault and won't impact his insurance at all. The station or Porsche on the other hand might be out some money.
There is also a reason why the exhaust pipe is always on the opposite side of the car as the fuel filler, although probably not nearly as much of an issue as it could be with a rear engine car. Someone in one of the threads I was reading said they had complained about that fuel pump back-splashing on their car earlier in the day and had reported it. First thing I thought was: "Oh great, another plug in burned up". It is good to hear (from EV public relations point of view) that it was just a fuel dispensing issue, and a good reminder that fuel is far more explosive than lithium batteries
Sounds like a major design flaw. I can not believe an expensive car like this would have that major a flaw. I would sure be pissed if that were my car.
