The vehicle must have the keyless entry option (&AU0) and DIC (&UK3) or the GM accessory DIC switch package for this security system. Otherwise, it does not have the content theft deterrent alarm system needed. Installing this security system requires programming of the vehicle. This is done with a Service Programming System. The installer needs to call the Techline Customer Support Center (TCSC) for programming assistance. The call is only good for one specific Vehicle Identification Number (VIN)

Installation Sequence


Note: Please review the entire procedure before trying to perform it.



Note: After safety mandated preparatory steps have been taken, the installation sequence is the suggested method for completing the accessory installation. In some instances, the suggested sequence is written for one associate to install and in others the sequence is given as part of a team accessory installation. Unless otherwise stated in the document, the associates may perform the installation steps in any order to make the installation as efficient as possible while maintaining consistent quality.


Verify the vehicle has the AU0 and UK3 options. This can be done using the GM Vehicle Inquiry System (GMVIS) or the vehicle’s Service Parts ID Label. If the GM accessory DIC switch package is installed, the UK3 option will not appear on the service Parts ID label. In that case, simply check for the presence of the DIC switch. Call TCSC (1-800-828-6860) to obtain programming instructions. The authorization number is for the BCM (Body Control Module) and the IPC (Instrument Panel Cluster).


Note: You must have the vehicle’s VIN that will be upgraded and the following Authorization Codes:




IP and BCM Authorization Code
This will allow you to reprogram the BCM and IPC for this security system.


Note: Before programming, the following conditions must be met, or control module damage may occur


• The Tech 2 and the SPS terminal must have the latest software.

• Vehicle system voltage

• There is not a charging system concern. All charging system concerns must be repaired before programming a control module.

• Vehicle system voltage is greater than 12 volts but less than 16 volts. The battery must be charged before programming if the vehicle system voltage is low.

• A battery charger is NOT connected to the vehicle’s battery. Voltage fluctuations from a battery charger may cause programming failure.

• Turn OFF or disable any system that may put a load on the vehicle’s battery, such as the following comments:

- Twilight sentinel

- Interior lights

- Heating, ventilation, and air conditioning (HVAC) Systems

- Engine cooling fans, radio, etc.

• The ignition switch must be in the proper position. The Tech 2 prompts you to turn ON the ignition, with the engine OFF. DO NOT change the position of the ignition switch during the programming procedure, unless instructed to do so.

• Make certain all tool connections are secure.

• DO NOT disturb the tool harnesses while programming. If an interruption occurs, programming failure or control module damage may occur.

• DO NOT turn OFF the ignition if the programming procedure is interrupted or unsuccessful. Ensure that all connections are secure and the SPS software is up to date. Attempt to reprogram the control module. If the control module cannot be programmed, replace the control module.

1. Reprogram the IPC (Instrument Panel Cluster) using the method called out by TCSC.

2. Reprogram the BCM (Body Control Module) using the method called out by TCSC.


Note: After programming, perform the following to avoid misdiagnosis
• Turn the ignition OFF for approx. 1 minute.

• Turn the ignition ON with the engine OFF.



Learning the Restraints ID
Navigate to the following on the scan tool:

• Body Control Module

• Module Setup

• Setup SDM Primary key in BCM

• Using a scan tool, retrieve any history Diagnostic Trouble Codes (DTCs) from all of the modules.

• Clear all DTCs.

Remove Components

1. Remove the inflatable restraint instrument panel lower module – passenger side. Refer to Inflatable Restraint Instrument Panel Lower Module Replacement - Passenger Side .

2. Remove the instrument panel lower trim panel insulator. Refer to Instrument Panel Lower Trim Panel Insulator Replacement .

3. Remove the instrument panel lower compartment. Refer to Instrument Panel Lower Compartment Replacement .

4. Remove the passenger front side door opening floor carpet retainer. Refer to Front Side Door Opening Floor Carpet Retainer Replacement .

5. Remove the body control module. Refer to Body Control Module Replacement .

Installing the Security System Wiring Harness





1. Disconnect 2 BCM connectors: J6 (PINK) (2) and J7(GRAY) (1).

2. Using a small screwdriver and the terminal removal tool, gently pry up on the Terminal Position Assurance (TPA) on each of the 2 connectors removed from the BCM.


Note: TPA will not fully come off of connector.



3. Gently remove bubble wrap protection from the security system wiring harness BCM terminals.

4. Plug the terminals into the following locations:





• The YELLOW wire on the security system harness should be plugged into cavity 23 of the J6 BCM connector (PINK).





• The PURPLE wire on the security system harness should be plugged into cavity 15 of the J7 BCM connector (GRAY).

• Push, click, and tug the wires to make sure the terminals are seated.

• Reseat TPA by pressing in place.

5. Reconnect the two connectors ( J6, and J7) to BCM.

6. Reinstall the BCM.





7. Remove the two screws (2) and the BEC (1) from the instrument panel.





8. Plug the terminal with the (RED/WHITE) wire on the security system harness into pin 21 of the BEC.





9. Install the 10A fuse provided in kit into fuse position F2 of the BEC.





10. Locate ground ring stud (1) circuit G302 and remove nut.

11. Route ground wire with ring terminal of the security system harness along body harness and install ground ring terminal to ground stud circuit G302.

12. Install ground stud nut and tighten.





13. Install the shock sensor (2) to the inflatable restraint instrument panel lower module harness (1) and secure with tie strap (3)

14. Reset the BCM and function-check the security system.

• Turn the ignition ON and back OFF.

• Turn the ignition ON with the engine OFF.

• Using a scan tool, retrieve any history Diagnostic Trouble Codes (DTCs) from all of the modules.

• Clear all DTCs.

• Turn ignition OFF.

• Open the driver’s door to turn off retained accessory power.

• Arm the vehicle’s content theft deterrent system while in the driver’s seat by using the remote keyless entry fob to lock the doors. Do not disturb the sensor until the security telltale goes off.

• Tap the steering wheel or dashboard. The alarm should activate. If the alarm does not activate, you may need to adjust the sensitivity level of the shock sensor module. (white knob located on the side of shock sensor module).

• Repeat step above. (Section i). If the alarm still does not activate, check the fuses for horns and lights.

• Verify the shock sensor responds to both levels of impact (sensitivity level set low), while the vehicle is armed by hitting any window open handed or body panel with a closed fist.

- Level 1 – (low level of impact) When the alarm sounds the horn chirps and the lights flash rapidly.

- Level 2 – (high level of impact) Full alarm.

Note: Refer to Owners Manual insert for clarification and shock sensor operation.



• Once you have verified that the Shock Sensor is operating correctly, adjust the level of sensitivity that will ensure the alarm does not trigger with a Level 2 alarm with the slightest bump (false alarms).

Note: The sensitivity level should not be set so low that the slightest bump causes the alarm to trigger or set to high causing damage to the vehicle without triggering an alarm.



• Place a mark on the white adjustment knob leading to the shock sensor case using a paint pen or permanent marker. This mark indicates where the level is set following installation of the shock sensor module.

Note: The wiring harness that was installed can be used for the Shock and/or Inclination Sensor Modules.


Note: If the Inclination sensor is not an added accessory, the remaining part of the harness needs to be secured with a tie strap.



• Fold the remaining wires in half and secure fold with a tie strap.

• Secure harness to wire bundle behind the instrument panel compartment. Verify all wires are neatly secured.

Note: The White Adjustment knob is located on the side of the sensor. This knob varies the level of sensitivity for the shock sensor. The sensitivity level is set at the Dealership; it can be adjusted per the owner’s preference.



1. A Shock sensor has been added to your vehicle’s content theft deterrent system. The Shock sensor will monitor Shock impacts to your vehicle in the attempt that the vehicle is being tampered with. The level of impact is compared to the level set by the white adjustment knob.





2. The Shock sensor (2) is located on the passenger side behind the instrument panel compartment.

3. If an impact occurs the Shock sensor will set off your vehicles content theft deterrent alarm. There are two Levels of impact that the shock sensor will trigger upon.

• Level 1 – Indicates a low level of impact “Warn Away” or “Light Touch”. When detected the lights will flash and the horn chirps rapidly.

• Level 2 – Indicates a high level of impact “Tamper” or “Full Alarm”. In the event that this level occurs the alarm sounds.

Deactivating and Re-activating the Motion (Shock) Sensor

1. The Shock sensor will be activated whenever the content theft deterrent system has been activated and the sensor has not been disabled using the DIC Vehicle Customization feature. Refer to Content Theft Deterrent in your owner’s manual for activating and turning off the theft deterrent system.

2. To disable the Shock sensor.

Note: A message will appear in the Driver Information Center (DIC) each time you turn off the ignition to allow you to disable this sensor.



• Turn ignition key OFF.

• The PRESS TO DISABLE MOTION SENSOR message will appear on the DIC.

• Press the Set/Reset DIC button.

3. The Following Conditions may set off your Shock Sensor alarm. (When Content Theft Deterrent is set).

• Inserting Key into the door while the vehicle is armed.

• Jacking the vehicle to remove a tire or to tow the vehicle.

• Inserting Gas Nozzle while refueling vehicle (set at Minimum sensitivity).

• Leaving a person or large pet in the vehicle causing movement.
