Default 6 Volts with Michigan plates - in Northern California (near Palo Alto)

    Hey,

Driving to work this morning I spotted 6 (!!) Volts, one after the other, with Michigan plates, in California driving one after the other, driving north on I-280. They got off at Page Mill (Palo Alto exit). They then turned right on Coyote Hill Rd. Tesla is in that area (but one turn before the one they took), and GM has a research facility in Palo Alto, but not in the direction they were going.

It is very unusual to see so many volts in one place, let alone driving with Michigan plates in CA.

Any idea where they were headed???

Maybe they are a part of a GM research group who have to drive 6 Volts daily until they reach over 150k miles to test the battery or... maybe not...

Now if they were headed to/from Area 51 we'd be on to something.........

Was there a M in the middle of the plate? Manufacturer plate.

Yup, the M is little on the Michigan Manufacturer plate.

The service writer at the Courtesy dealer on Stevens Creek told me that I just missed a Volt training seminar, so maybe they are hitting different dealers on a tour.

Did not see the 'M' on the license plate as I was not close enough...

BTW, I did see some VW (electric golf!) and Mercedes with MFG plates in the valley recently.

And, today, for the first time, I saw a Prius Plug in (hybrid logo is a bit different - has plug in on it) on the road. However, it did not have the HOV sticker on it yet - probably too new.

GM is also taking them around to tech companies as well. I know that several Volts with Michigan "M" plates visited Autodesk in SF recently (I think it was on their facebook).

Awesome... did they blow by you to your left going 85 one foot apart from each other's bumper? That would be awesome...
