    Default Who else gets excited before going into ICE mode?

    I typically run all electric unless its a weekend trip or going to the airport for travel.

    Funny I always get geared up before the engine comes on, I turn to the efficiency screen (or power screen), turn down the radio etc. Then I have some fun hearing the motor rev way up when I accelerate fast, etc.

    Also it's neat to hear the fans running hard (to cool the battery I suspect) in the garage after I have gotten home and have her plugged in after running ICE for a while on a hot day.

    I am always a little embarrassed when the ICE kicks in. I love silently blowing people away at stoplights or on-ramps... but when the ICE kicks in it's just not the same.

    Usually I am just waiting for someone to pull up and say "I thought those were electric...." 8{
    (Note: when I AM on electric I get at least 2 people a week stopping beside me at intersections and asking me how I like the car)

    I sort of hate it when the ICE kicks in, feels like I'm losing some game. lol
    50-55+ miles spring/summer (no climate control), 45-50 summer (AC on Eco), ~30 winter (heater running)
    The electric car will win one day, not because of global warming or enviro-anything, but because it is simply a superior driving and ownership experience. You read it here first.

    Doesn't bother me, I just think that I could be driving my CTS and only getting 25mpg instead of the Volt's 40!

    Always think darkside for comparison and the Volt spanks it in all driving modes (win/win).

    I feel kinda similar. Sometimes that engine can really rev up and I wonder how loud it is on the outside because it sounds so loud on the inside. In addition I feel like the car does not perform as well when it is relying on the motorgen set to provide the energy verses pure battery.

    As I understand it, the ICE is never powering the electric motor directly. It's sustaining the battery charge to a certain level. The only conditions I'm aware of the ICE directly driving the wheels is at higher speeds. I've gone up to about 80MPH and the ICE didn't come on, so I think this condition is unusual.

    It's very common in CS mode that some if not most of the power is going from the ICE directly. It's more efficient that way if the ICE is already running. Performance should be very similar though unless the battery is down to it's minimum SOC. That's why we have Mountain Mode.

    Funny, I do this, too. But I wouldn't describe it as excitement. More like mild resignation. I like the pure electric experience much better, and I also realize that I'm that much closer to the next trip to the gas station (which I've visited only once since October)

    Ditto here. It feels loud and pokey in ICE at low speeds.

    Yeah, I am not sure if it is the vibrations and sounds makes it seem a little more pokey or not. I wonder if when the motor/gen set is providing the power if the number of amps to the motor is limiting how fast the car can accelerate. I would think quick acceleration would require a lot more amps than a slow acceleration.
