Congrats on the car and welcome to the forum. If by low emissions Volt you mean one which is HOV eligible, and if you are in CA, don't forget to apply for your $1500 as soon as possible.

Make sure you get the correct sensors in your wheels to operated the TPM system or it will not work and will throw some codes. I'm not a big fan of dark wheels, but I like the fact you are personalizing it to suit your own tastes. I always do things to my own cars to make them custom for me. Welcome to the forum!

I ordered the 315mhz tire pressure sensors that tire rack recommended on their website. Do you know if they are compatible?

Those should be the same ones I got from Tirerack on my winter wheels. If so, they'll work fine. You'll need a tool to reprogram them (every time you change what wheels are on the car or which position they are in, you need a quick 5 minute walk around to tell the car which sensors it is supposed to show in which corners.) I got the ~$90 one from Tirerack (you can probably get the dealer to do this for you instead, possibly for a fee.)

There are supposed to be methods out there with dropping the tire pressure or inflating it, but I think they might be urban legends - certainly none of them worked for me.

Congrats on the new purchase. Mine is two months old and I like it more now than ever. Personalizing is fun with any car. You'll need to post an actual pic of the Volt with the wheels.
If you get a chance take a look at the current MotorTrend. Their long term test car has taken everything they have thrown at it. The most recent of which was summer tires. Handling improved from .77g to .85g, with almost no noticable change in ride and noise. However, their range in similar driving conditions dropped about 25%, so be aware just in case new tires are part of the wheel package.

Tire Rack just called, they ship the wheels today. I think the wheels will be here before the car

FYI, I chose Michelin Primacy MXM4 225/45/18. Anybody has any experience in them?

Hi,
Just signed the purchase contract and will be taking delivery of low emission Silver Volt on Tuesday . I have also made a purchase for new set of 18" wheels from Tire Rack. I'm excited and can't wait for it.
SPX should schedule pre-inspection anytime soon too.

Will your Volt have the polished aluminum rims installed from the factory? If so, would you be interested in selling them? I have the painted rims, but would really like the polished ones.
