Thumbs down Recalls not done prior to deliverly

Just a little venting. My two week old Volt will spend a few unnecessary days in the shop. I picked up my Chrystal red Volt on april 9th. Thie car was on the dealer lot since Christmass. Charger failed in 4 days and I've been driving on gas ever since, Also find out that the battery brace recall not done. Now I'm waiting for Parts then a couple days in the shop. Not a big deal, but shouldent a new car have all the upgrades done before deliverly?

Same thing here, my car was on the lot and the recall was not done to it either. As soon as I needed to take it in to the shop for something the guy says hey there are two recalls on your car. I said, "why did you not already do that stuff to the car?" he said, "it was the sales department's issue". Sounds like an excuse so as to not have to tell me the real reason. It undoubtedly has something to do with money.

There is really no good excuse from the dealership. They get reimbursed for recall/"enhancements". It's most likely just common mismanagement (Sales not talking to Service). "What we have here is failure to communicate."

Mine had been done. Well the battery part anyway. Still had to order the charger. They reset something with the air bags also if I recall, I will have to look at the paperwork.

Salesman said he didnt know anything about it till I asked. I'll talk to service and management When they get the parts in. Maybe Chevy dealers arnt used to the type of service they need to provide when selling cars at BMW prices.

Silver lining: Located Milwaukee's only charge point 3 blocks from my office so i'll be powered up again.

these upgrades aren't recalls....... they are customer satisfaction campaigns and are done at the owners request and not until then. gm can deny to pay the warranty claim if the customer hasn't signed a work order saying they want this work done. my dealer couldn't order my new charger cord until i requested it.

why does everybody insist on calling these recalls?

With the amount of failures on the EVSE original charger, it seems to be a recall due to poor workmanship there. Battery issue is another matter and is customer satisfaction in terms of "peace of mind" based on the NHTSA issue. Airbag thing - no idea.

Likely it's because the dealer's representative talks to the customer then looks at the computer, pulls up information, looks back at the customer and says' Oh your car has three recall issues."

You are correct, they are customer satisfaction campaigns so maybe they do not do it unless the customer request it. My dealer ordered all the parts ahead of time, including the charge cord. I don't know why the dealers call it a recall, you would think they would get the terminology correct.

FYI if you get a new charge cord, you must surrender the old one, please the dealer has to cut off the plug and send it back.
