Exclamation One of those design things-the new charge cable MANUAL!

Has anyone noticed the manual that now comes with the newest charge cables?

I had the three mods done to my Volt and was suprised to see this huge manual-thing under the deck in back when I picked it up today.

It's essentially the same two pager that came with the car originally, only now it's bound with a cover and translations into like ten languages! It's now 66 pages and a half dozen "blank" pages with the old IBM statement across the middle.

There are a couple of odd things in this new manual to me:
    1. The pictures are exactly the same for every language, ignoring the many different plugs types used in all the countries represented by the different languages.
    2. There are no specs for the charge cable anywhere
    3. There is no ID info in the whole document; no rev #, no publication #, nothing.

How did this get approved and released?

GM probably doesn't make the charge cord, it is contracted out to some supplier. And some suppliers are not as good as others at manuals, or for that matter, charge cords.

When you unwrap - the cord the housing will have more specifications and stamps from the testing labs. Plus the part number.
So far no take a-part pictures. I have not seen the booklet. My dealer re-packed the replacement into the back of the car.

The unit seems a tad larger-

I flipped through it and thought it was just the mounting template in a bunch of languages, nothing more.

The 66 page manual make sense if they pull these units from inventory and ship to any of the countries in the manual. That seems unlikely given the North American plug design. Perhaps they produce a variety of units with different plugs and simply toss in the manual with no need to make sure the correct language is being used as they are all covered.

Did you have any problem after the mods?

The two things that I found was my backup camera no longer works.

And all my radio stations are set to defaults. When you have a 30GB drive could you not store them? Even the USB stick would be better than having to program all the stations over and over.

More likely is they are just trying to hit the native language of customers in North America.
