    Default VIN

How do I find out if my Volt has had the battery mod done with the VIN number?

    Thanks

I think the only way to be sure is to go to a dealer and ask. Unless it was a post-March restart build (somewhere around 15K VIN?) I'd assume that it has not been done until you know otherwise.

The other thing to do is open the hood and see if the battery coolant reservoir (identified in the owner's manual) has the anti-tamper ring attached to it. That's supposed to be part of the same mod, though some folks that got cars with factory battery reinforcement had the ring delivered separately (I think it may be a dealer install right now.)

I asked the dealer I bought it from and the said it was done. I just wanted to know for sure.

    Thanks

If the dealer said it was, then look under the hood. One of the three radiator coolant fill bottles (I think it might be the one at the very front on the right as you look down?) should have a metal ring preventing easy removal of the lid. If it does, the campaign was done...

Exactly. Just look under the hood. If the battery coolant tank has the metal ring around the fill cap your car has the enhancement. See image and details here: http://gm-volt.com/2012/01/06/gm-cho...ry-protection/

Interesting. The tamper resistant ring was in the storage bin under the voltec charger in the trunk. I have been wondering what it was! My vin is 15650.

A few folks with cars that had the reinforcement done at the factory have posted asking what the ring was. I'm thinking GM figured to have the dealer install it for some reason, and the message didn't get out as well as might be hoped.

First congrats! Great car and tons of fun to drive! Had same issue here...found the ring in the hatchback area...you would think the dealer would know what this was and have it installed prior to us picking up the car...now, we will waste a trip back to the dealer(: mac
