You said "eVerything on the key FOB works", and then you said you unlocked the door with the KEY!
try to unlock the door with the key FOB, then start th car.

Try using the key in the hidden slot in the storage area in the middle of the dash. Open the storage lid, pick up the rubber mat, stick the key in, then try starting it.

Also, if everything else works call OnStar Phone: 1.888.4.ONSTAR (1.888.466.7827)

Get your second FOB, the car won't start without a FOB or as the other poster mentioned that hidden key slot in the top of the dash in the bottom of the center storage

tried everything. the 2 fob works(tried both fobs), the radio turns on with volume button, doors unlock/lock with inside button. Just won't power up. wont say anything on screens. it's really bothering me. i dont want to start disliking the Volt like most all of america. I love the car.

I know it sounds simple or crazy... But check the car is in Park. I shamefully admit to doing that in the past when in a hurry! On star would be my next try if nothing else works.

    Good luck.

In addition to the above you might
Try a remote start via the web and see if that work. if it starts from there its definitely the fob

Im presuming your battery is not dead (i.e. you see stuff). If you left the car on then you can drain the 12v battery. There is a procedure to jump it (described in the manual).

Yeah its in park and have tried to wiggle it to make sure. Yes battery is fine the radio plays, but the screen is dimmer than normal I dont know if the volt dims. The remote start doesn't work either. Would onstar actually know what's wrong with it or will I have to get it towed? (hope not because it's nosed in the garage, and I know those tow drivers don't care and will drag it)

    Couple of things to try:

Remove the charger and close the port.

    1) lock the car and then unlock the car using the handle button, try to start it..

Do the Head lights turn on and off when you hit the start button?

    If no joy

    2) repeat number 1 and then turn off the auto lights, make sure the dimmer switch is set to max (left side of wheel next to the info select buttons) try again

    If No joy

    3) Repeat number 2 then pop the hood, secure the hood up. turn on the lights and then press the start button..

    If No Joy

    4) Plug in the charger, override charge and to start charging and then repeat step 3

    If no Joy

    5) consult the manual for jump start procedure and try step 1

Your first post on this forum, eh? My second thought is that you are sitting in the car with the wrong Key Fob. Yup- had the key fob to a 2012 Cruze and though there was an issue- naw, silly salesman!

My third thought was that your 12 volt glass mat accessory battery had run low- discharged 12V battery can happen- though if you have dash lights then this is not the case.

My first thought was that as a first time poster your were and imposter. Naw, no one would do that!

Seriously, #1 call this number at once! 877-486-5845 Volt Advisor

Have the Volt Advisor call me once your problem is solved and I will relay the workaround!

#2 Since you have dash power- Press the blue ONStar Button- That is what is there for. The ONStar staff will ping the Volt to see what it wants to tell them!

#3 Push the start button. Hold down till the car shuts down. Look for a complete shutdown. Wait 2 minutes and boot the Volt Back up!

    Best!
