My 2011 Volt just came back from Capitol Chevrolet in San Jose:
    • 11342 Enhancements for side impact pole performance
    • 12020 Driver airbag inspection
    • 11188 Enhanced 120 volt charge cord
    • 11137 Product enhancements - ** expires 09/30/13 (aka: software upgrades)

I also asked them to rotate the tires and fix the rear view mirror (wouldn't hold position).

Unfortunately, I had a series of problems getting my rental car and then again trying to pick up my Volt last night that consumed nearly 2 hours of my time. When I went to get my car this morning, I was loaded for bear and fully prepared with information from this site.

I made the service consultant walk through every item with me. From this forum, I knew to check:
    • The fluid level in the battery coolant reservoir
    • That the backup camera was operational
    • That the auto heated seats option was still present on the climate screen
    • That the rear driver's side fuse label had been replaced
    • That the new 120V EVSE has a black wall plug and cord

First thing, I opened the hood and went right to the coolant level. It was filled to the top and not to the fill line halfway up the tank as it was supposed to be. That brought out the operations director, the shop foreman, and a tech. They spent about 15 minutes reviewing the instructions, agreed that it wasn't right, and fixed it on the spot.

Everything else was in order. The whole team was quite apologetic, and the service consultant went out of his way to make it all right. I'm quite confident that all work was performed and done properly AND that the dealership learned something from my experience, so I'm satisfied overall.

I had a final discussion with the operations director, and it went something like this:

"A number of Volt owners used to be BMW, Mercedes, Porsche, etc. owners - that is a good thing for Chevrolet. However, it also means that they will be expecting a higher level of service. As long as GM keeps making cars as good as the Volt, I'll keep buying them."

Hopped in my Volt and off I went. So much better than the Cruze rental I had for two days!

I'm approaching 10,000 miles and spent $105 in total fuel costs to get 100 mpd. Electricity at work and home (solar) is free. Normal average Volt driver gets about 30 Miles per dollar while average Prius driver gets a very good 13 MPD. Large SUV gets 3 MPD....

I just LOVE reading posts like this. It's everybody's hope that gm-volt.com will continue to be not only THE best place to find accurate and detailed information on the Volt, but also act as a suupport system for people new to EVs, or GM in general.
Nice to hear we are making a difference to consumers transitioning to the Volt experience.

Also glad you hear you were so well informed, prepared and empowered to the point of being able to "call them out" on their error in filling your battery coolant reservoir. But it's also great to hear that they were able to admit their error and make it right ASAP.
    Love it

    ENJOY YOUR VOLT!

I had my battery enhancement done a few weeks ago at Boardwalk Chevrolet in Redwood City, CA and it went well. They let me know that the parts were in, scheduled the appointment, and loaned me a Yukon. That was the only bad part of the experience – hard to go with such a huge car when you’re used to the size, economy, and thrill of the Volt. Too bad GM has the policy that Enterprise must rent me a GM car when a very nice Leaf was sitting in their lot ready to be loaned to me that day (Chevy and Enterprise are co-located with Nissan).

Anyway, they replaced the charge cord and fixed my cracked shifter at the same time, then returned the car washed and with a full charge. It took them 2 and a half days to do it – about what others have reported, but I don’t understand why so long. Boardwalk was great about following up a few days later to see if I was satisfied with my service. All in all, a nice experience and it cost me nothing.

Sorry to hear that not all service experiences are as nice, but nice to hear that some are even better (full tank of gas, etc.).

    Love my Volt!

Forgot to mention that they gave me an oil change and minor service for free - it was not time mileage-wise, but they suggested the service since it was 1.5 years old and no service yet. Very generous of them!

We love the volt but it's not big enough for us. We have 2 gm vehicles and love both. We won't own anything but Gm and it must have onstar. Love being able to start the car with my phone if it's hot or cold out
