Default My Volt is in for the battery enhancement etc.

Just wondering how many other owners have had this done and how well did it go? I have to say that I don't like relying on my gas powered vehicles. It's amazing how without the volt you feel like you are buying gas every other day and when I'm "volting"gas stations become a nostalgic remembrance. "Candy apple red" Volt

I just brought my Volt in today. They gave me this horrible car from Enter***** to use. I burned a gallon of gas driving home not to mention the noise the car made. I knew it was started because I could feel the vibration. It took me by surprised when I felt the car change gears. The car was also a little bouncy.

Oh how I miss my Volt already :-(

Mine went in after work today. Sounds like it will take at least 3 days to do the battery fix, airbag, charge cord, and software update. I also need the master cylinder cap replaced (small leak). My battery coolant was a bit low, so hopefully there's no coolant leak anywhere (haven't seen an drips).

I got a base Cruze as a loaner. It's not a bad car, but it's not a Volt either. I asked for a Buick Verano, but they didn't have any. Oh well, I can tough it out. At least it's not an Aveo like I got once before.

My 2012 is going into the dealer this week for the "upgrades" or recalls, which ever you want to call them. They are doing the air bag, battery upgrade and new power cord. But no one has said anything about a software upgrade. I will ask the service manager when I take my baby in. I have been running on gas all week because my power cord melted. I guess that it is my fault but I had not been notified by anyone about these upgrades (recalls) so I was unaware of them until my power cable stopped working. I have a couple of question for you guys. Can the old power cords be repaired or do we have to return them to GM? Isn't GM supposed to notify us of these upgrades (recalls) or do we just call them every week or two? btw, I am not looking forward to loosing my Volt for 2 to 3 days. I am retired and only drive 30 miles two or three times a week so I have not been buying gas for awhile now. I will have to get used to looking at the gas prices again. Oh well, in every life a little rain must fall.

This "enhancement" has been out there for about 9 months, don't know why you weren't informed. I think you will find that it all works out fine. You will get a new power cord and the software will appear to result in less EV miles but that is just the computer relearning. Mine was done about 6 months ago and is working great.

Default Guess who's back? Back again!

11342 is not a recall, right? Once again someone failed to inform Sport Chevrolet of that. They keep trying to make me have it done on my Volt despite my refusal multiple times. Just received a love post card from them:

Brought mine into my Volt-authorized dealer (Dueck Downtown, Vancouver) last Thursday mid-afternoon to get the battery reinforcement, airbag update and new EVSE all at once. Got it back at the end of the next day. I've driven it for two full days since then.

I was told when dropping it off that part of the process involved fully discharging the high voltage battery before removal, then fully recharging it after re-installation.

The battery was about 25% below a full charge when I picked it up; I imagine that's because they had to road test it before returning it to me. (I certainly don't hold that against the dealership considering how quickly I got my Volt back.)

I have to say I'm very happy with their work so far. The vehicle drives exactly the same, and all my settings and stats seem to have been retained. There are no new quirks that I've noticed.

I'm actually getting a slightly better range now than I was before getting the updates done (61km on full charge today vs. 57 when I dropped it off, a bit more than 2 miles difference) - although my range has been trending consistently upward since a month ago when I started driving almost exclusively with 'Fan Only' Climate setting - my average range before that, using the 'Eco' Climate setting, hovered between 40-46km.

I didn't ask the dealership how many other Volts they'd worked on before mine, although I know they have 3 Volt-certified mechanics on site and seem to be committed to the technology since they've just finished installing two Level 2 Voltec EVSEs there as well. (In fact, they went out of their way to mention that they're available to Volt owners any time they're in the neighborhood!) They're also one of the few local dealerships authorized to work on Volts, so I find it encouraging that they seem to be serious about maintaining them as well as selling them.

" fully discharging the high voltage battery" even the not used percent.
or JUST fully disconnect the high voltage battery ?

Guess they could have saved on red cones and yellow tape if it is fully discharged

Brings up a good tip to not top up the battery before taking it in for the service. I have contacted my local dealer and they've ordered the parts, but nothing scheduled yet. What was interesting is that the first person I spoke to treated me like a normal service call customer. When I asked about the free loaner, she had to transfer me to someone else ... who knew a lot more about the work needed to be done on the Volt battery. She casually asked how I liked the car. When I said "I love it" she just laughed, but stopped laughing after she asked what kind of car I had before and I said an Audi. Maybe that's the problem with the GM marketing of the Volt. They don't always understand how far into the new customer pool they can reach.

Dropped out our Volt on a Saturday morning a week ago and got it back on Thursday. Battery/chassis enhancement, airbag tweak and ordered a new charge cord (we use the 110 cord exclusively). Not sure what all they did to it but got it back clean, charged up and gassed up. Now we're just waiting on the new charger.

We didn't take a loaner as we didn't need one.
