    Default Needless/Bogus options?

    Hello All:

I could be making a purchase of a Volt soon, today pehaps! Should I expect the finance guy to be offering rust proofing, sound proofing, extended warranties? Like to think I can say no to most anything, although perhaps a sweet deal on an extra charging cord would be considered.

FYI most likely taking advantage of 0% 60 financing, with 10-15K down payment.

I went for the GM extended protection plan (5yr). Being such a hi-tech complex vehicle I thought it was worth it and to note I generally never go for the add-on warranties.

My dealer never pushed anything else tbh.

The only thing I was offered was the extended warranty. 0% 60-month financing would have been great.

You might consider looking at Consumer Reports guidelines on how to buy a new car. While I don't think much of their car reviews the general information on what to avoid in the purchase of a new car is useful.

Refuse everything unless it is free like a free 240V charging station or winter mats etc.

i wouldn't expect any deals for 110V charger cords as they are in short supply due to the current recall.

Ditto. They pushed the extended warranty pretty hard, but none of that other stuff was even suggested. I was pretty comfortable with the whole experience.

I was also offered the extended warranty, which I bought. He also offered me the SPX 240 charger for a flat 500.00, which I also bought. The 240 charger is almost a must.

You can get that extended warranty for up to 1 year/12 months while the car is still "new". Several of us did that. You can shop around for that. If you want to buy it "locally" then you can still shop around later and use those prices as a comparison to what you local person offers. Same "product". I'd ignore everything else.

I was offered all sorts of options. They were very gracious as I turned down all of them but nobody told the shop. Got home and realized that my car had wheel lock lug nuts and the anti-theft number etched into each window. Haha, I wonder what other unrequested options I got for free.
