California HOV Green Stickers Received!!

I finally received my green stickers today!! I can now resume enjoying the use and flexibility of the California HOV lanes.

This Volt is truly a fantastic, fun car to drive - I am enjoying the innovative technology, cool design and the freedom to use (or not use) gas. I have previously owned a Honda Civic Hybrid and most recently a Honda Civic GX for the commute and this Volt is hands down, the most luxurious, tech filled car to use the carpool lane!

I kept the license plate off for these pics -but a big thank you to Jake Butts and Ed Nakao at Butts Chevrolet in Seaside/Monterey for making this a smooth, expedited transaction!

Has any other Volt owner received their green stickers yet? In the couple weeks that I have had mine, I haven't seen another Volt or Prius yet...

I leased my Volt on 2/10 and I STILL have not received any DMV letters....any idea on how long this is suppose to take?

You have to apply and send a check. If you did that on 2/10 then you should have gotten your stickers.

Update: my stickers arrived today (4/14). I mailed the application in the evening on 3/27.

i'm still waiting for the plates so i can even apply. seems like a silly system - why do we need the plates to apply?

for those who have gotten their plates in california, how long did it take for you? i'm at a month now....

It should be about a month from the time you get the plates to receiving the stickers. The reason the license plate is needed is that they issue a new registration with the green sticker number and also a separate green sticker id card in case you get pulled over.

You don't need the plates per se, you just need the plate NUMBER. Your selling dealer can get it for you - give them a call.

Got CA Plates in mail on 5/2 (special thanks to Brandon and Junior at Jimmy Johnson Chevy in San Diego for rushing the DMV Plate process)

Sent in CA HOV Sticker form regular mail on: 5/3

Got CA HOV Stickers today (5/16) Deposit date stamp on cashed check was 5/11

Here are the actual instructions. They are somewhat vague as to exact location. I am really tempted to place mine lower - "behind the wheel wells", but off of the paint and onto the plastic. Not that concerned about the paint, but they will not stand out so much. Hated the ugly yellow CA HOV stickers I had on my Honda Civic Hybrid.

I need to make this choice by tonight (stickers are waiting at home).

(UPDATED: 5/17) Added them as shown in the photos. Hope they stay on...

(UPDATED: 7/6/12) Almost 2 months and now over 6,500 miles and they are still on and secure. Fingers crossed they stay that way!
