Terrible journalism, they said the EV1 had 1000 pounds of lead-acid batteries and was a "marketing failure." Looks cool though.

I like the design, but it's sad to see the boldness go away. But I would much rather see a nice looking efficient design that takes me 40 miles than a bold design that only takes me 25 miles.

I think the boldness went away when they put it into a wind tunnel and it had the aerodynamics of a rock. Something along the lines of it being as aerodynamic when they put in in the wind tunnel backward as forward.
