Picking up a kill-a-watt meter at home depo can help in the long run.
Volts amps and kwh as well as your cost.
125 volts is ok most volt meters measure RMS voltage and can be off a few. Percent.
Try a close by level2 charger as well. My charger is warm but not hot.
Will yours show the correct lights over alonger time plugged into AC power but not the car ?

You can try this number to reach the Volt advisor desk: (877) 486-5846. It worked last year. I'm believe that Chevrolet it still keeping that service available to all buyers.
There also have been cases where the problem ended up being a voltage regulation issue with the power company.
Good luck. Please let us know if you find a solution.
The Kill-a-watt meter sounds like a good idea. The description of your chargers temps sounds similar to mine, not warm enough to cause any burns, I think the case may get to 110 or so. I haven't tried leaving the charger plugged in with no load, I'll try that. Thank you for your help. Ray

So, pretty much confirmed the problem is in the charging unit. I installed a new single heavy duty receptacle with about 3 feet of number 12 romax conductor and a new 20 amp breaker. Only change is a few minutes until the charge units lights go out. After calling the Volt Advisers and speaking to a lady there, I set up an service appointment at the dealer to have it checked out. However, prior to the service appointment, my new service adviser (Willie) called me and informed me that Chevy was going to replace my cord with the new enhanced charging cord. Happy days!! I went ahead and took the Volt to my dealer to have them check the air bag (recall) and a couple of others they told me were needed. I'll post the results of the new cord once it arrives. Ray

There is a recall on the 110 Volts charger. The recall was issued march 15.
Drop a phone call to your dealer, to tell them about your issue, and you should receive
a new unit shortly.

Well, the Volt went to the service department yesterday. They ordered the replacement charger a replacement drivers door panel (leading edge near window was loose) and the battery reinforcement bits. They also checked the drivers air bag and did a realignment as the camber setting was off. Not real happy about the latter as I had to pay for it, fuzzy area as it was a demo sold as a new car. They did wash it (not that it needed it). Overall, very good service and very nice to deal with. I'll let you know how the new charger works when it arrives. Thinking of putting in a 230 charger, but that depends on how the replacement 110 works. Ray

Today is a red letter day for our Volt. Dropped by the dealer and the new charge cord had just arrived, so a bit later the new charge cord was doing the job. Charged from 60% to 100% in about 4 hours and no horn beeping. Thanks Volt Adviser Willie and the Hajeck Chevy service dept. New charger is part number 22914085 and has a bit heavier plug and pigtail. Still considering the level 2 charger. My Volt Adviser tells me Chevy is going to refund the alignment costs and I think that is fair. Next thing to obtain is the sealant, that isn't in the back of the hatch area!! Appears it was used while in service as a demo, one tire has a plug installed. Ray
