"Technically Volt will not accept these Amperage "

the external charger tells the Volt what current in amps to take.

the low is about 6 amps and our supplied 120 volt charger is a low of 8 amps and a high of 12 amps.

The Volt internal charger has a HIGH limit and won't take more even if the charger could deliver the amps.

90% of the charging cord device is safety circuits.

All good now, made a low cost sun sheild using a 18" white shelf with steel angle brackets tapcon'ed to the building.
Charger is nice and cool (cord unwrapped).
