    Default MyLink questions

I just purchased my Volt a few weeks ago and I foolishly thought that MyLink was Standard on the 2012 Volt. I just found out from my Volt Advisor that it was an option. Pretty crazy to think that my car came with Navigation, the Bose stereo and had a MSRP of 45k and did not have the $100 MyLink option. Sigh.

With all that being said.....what would it take to get MyLink installed?

    Any ideas?

Traded in my 556 hp CTS-V for a car that has 400 hp less. Go figure!

I did the same thing when I got mine in November (assumed MyLink was standard). To be honest, I haven't really missed it (but am sure it is a great feature). What kind of phone do you have? I have an iPhone and Pandora plays through the USB cord and displays the song artist/title on the nav screen and you can forward songs with the steering wheel controls.

I use this and cut the cord and retrofitted an old usb cord to get power from the usb port and play it through aux. I use Spotify on my DROID RAZR.

If your car has navigation than Mylink wasn't and isn't an option. The two features are mutually exclusive.

This will catch a few off guard - good sticky gotcha item - dealers should know this.

The Touchscreen Radio can also come as a "Touchscreen with Nav" radio ...but neither of these are the same as a "MyLink radio".
The Touchscreen with Navigation is your only actual Nav screen radio- BUT the Volt does come with 3 years of OnStar with "Turn by Turn " navigation included...no matter which radio you choose.

Let me know if you would like the actual radio codes for each radio.

PS...Folsom Chevrolet in Folsom CA just got 2 Cyber Gray Volts with the HOV emissons into inventory this week!

The "Build Your Own" tool at http://chevrolet.com has finally been updated to include the MyLink radio. The pricing and other details have been discussed elsewhere on this forum.

These entertainment center console variables are becoming ridiculous. Currently, you must have the Nav option to have the grid lines on the screen while backing up. If you want MyLink, you lose both Nav and the grid lines. Who ever designed this system needs to be shot. There is no reason on a properly designed system to have these 3 options dependent of each other.

IIRC the Volt's entertainment system is based on LinuxPPC, so adding such features in firmware should not be a crazy impossibility if they wanted to do so..
