Wimpy?
I'm NOT talking about the ped-friendly alert tone, but the actual horn sound. I had occasion to use the horn today and was underimpressed. Has anyone tried changing the horn to something with a little more authority?![]()

Sounds OK to me, not too abrasive not too light. My perspective may be skewed since my last car was a Vibe and that thing sounded like a poodle. I hated its horn.

Haha, my last car was a Vibe as well and the horn was, at best, an acquired taste.
My Volt's horn is the classiest, most authoritarian horn of any car's I've ever owned. But if that's not enough for ya, I have the four (yes four!) horns from a 1971 Cadillac Fleetwood on a shelf in my garage. "Clear the way for the Czar" they shout!

The Volt horn isn't too quiet when you send a remote start command to it when it's still plugged into your garage, and then unplug the charge cord before you unlock the door!
My 2011 Volt won't let me turn off the charge cord theft alarm in the menus, but I hear the dealer can disable it.

VOLT TIPS & SECRETS
Looks like I am in the minority regarding the horn and after thinking about it, it may be that the horn is actually plenty loud on the outside....
40 years of riding motorcycles makes one understand what's needed at times to wake up errant cage drivers... *smile*Anger management class might be in your future ...

I also think the Volt horn is fine. I know what you mean about bikes though , I had an air horn on my last Harley.

I try very hard not use the horn. I have found on the rare occasion when I need to "wake" some up that the light is GREEN, the ped alert is a nice alternative as a friendly reminder rather than laying onthe horn.

I agree--horn is adequate and generic GM. Certainly you could swap them out with others if you needed. Haven't looked where they are on the car or how much space is available. www.Griots.com has a nice one that sounds like a Ferrari type horn: http://www.griotsgarage.com/product/...ks&from=Search
