Prize Car of the Year 2012 was won by the plug-in hybrid Opel Ampera / Chevrolet Volt. The car runs on electricity, but when the battery is discharged, you can continue to run on gasoline.
Chairman of the Car of the Year, Hakan Matson in Dagens Industri, presented the results at the Geneva Motor Show on Monday, the day before the show actually opens.
59 bilreportrar from 23 countries are part of the jury and the Ampera / Volt won well over the six other finalists.
Car of the Year has been named since 1964.
