    Default 2012 VOLT w/ CA Emissions reserved on Feb 15, has VIN but dealer has no status!

    I put down a $1K deposit on 2/15 and reserved one of the first CA emissions package Volts. I selected the only VOLT that had a VIN and was on the paddock for shipment. The ETA was end of February and now, first week of March, my dealer has no visibility into whether the vehicle is in transit, on the paddock, or whatever. Does anyone know how to locate the vehicle location or status? Although my preference is for a US made vehicle, I am into this plug in for the HOV lane sticker, it will cut over 1 hour/day off my daily commute. In CA, there is a limited number of stickers available for all plug-in hybrids and the Prius will be available in 2 weeks.

    Does anyone know how to check the status on a vehicle delivery?

    You need to get your order number from the dealer - it's a six digit alphanumeric sequence. With that number, you can go to chevroletconnects.com and get the status of the order. There are still some gaps - cars often sit at 4B00 for a while, but you'll know if it was produced on time and what the latest is. You could also call the Volt Advisors with your VIN, but I'm not sure they know more than what you'll see on chevroletconnects.

    Take the tracking sites with a grain of salt; I ordered mine on 11/30; it just showed up today but the tracking site still has it listed as waiting to be shipped.
    As far as the HOV stickers go; I wouldnt worry too much about it. There are 40000 stickers available and up until this week no one has been eligable to apply. Right now only the HOV volt qualifies and if you look at the sales numbers, they have only sold a few throusand of them. Even when the prius is available, availability will be limited much like the volt until production can ramp up; Remember White stickets dont count as part of the 40k. So the leaf/cng cars/tesla etc. do not take away from that number.
    I think they will have stickers available until December, since 40000 cars is an awful lot of expensive cars that need to be bought in a struggling economey. Personally i think california should have done a 5 year sticker program this time, since right now we are 3 months into it and no one can apply.

    Volt2012, Walter; Thanks for the feedback. I work in an industry where we know where everything is (at least the status) so I find it hard to believe Chevy would not know what's up with a vehicle. I'll check the care status. I look forward to driving the Volt. It's stylish and has decent pick up. Most of all, it is made in the states, which is important to me.

    I'm in the same boat! My car was produced, but now it's just sitting there with no status updates. The dealership knows nothing, the volt advisor knows nothing... We just know it's been built and it hasn't shipped. Something is going on. My suspicion is that they're testing something on this new batch of california cars to head off any bad press... but I HATE WAITING!!!!

    Default It's the emissions!

    I got an update from the dealership on my order. The delay is due to the changes made to the emissions to meet california standars. There's some sort of backlog on the parts to upgrade the emissions for our california cars. Mine is supposed to be all upgraded and ready to ship tomorrow.

    Finally! I can't wait to get my Volt. It's such a cool car.

    I picked up mine today ;
    BTW; my dealer was able to offer 0% 60mo; which was better then the BoA 2.9%; In the end the cost differenace paid for the extended warranty.
