Default My Volt is on the way!

I've driven a 2009 Mini Cooper S the last three years, and with the need for a new car, I've opted to buy a Volt. The test drive really did seal the deal, as the car was even more impressive than I had expected it to be. Fortunately, the dealer had a car fitting my wants coming in sometime in the next couple weeks, so I am hoping to be driving it as spring starts to arrive (hopefully) here in the metro Detroit area. I'll be getting a White Diamond Volt with the navigation/sound package. This site has also been very useful in enabling me to gather info to rattle off to my talk radio-brainwashed father, who will no doubt give me the usual misinformed talking points against the car!

Hey Congrats on getting a new Volt! You will Love it! I have had mine now 2 months and am really enjoying it. I commute 40 miles to work and usually make it all the way on a charge. Then I plug it in at the office (associates here a little jealous) and drive home on a charge. Don't usually make it all the way home as most days it does not charge long enough but still not bad! Honestly, I have 3500 miles on the car now and have put $100 worth of gas in it and still have about 1/3 tank left. I traded a Jetta which I was filling up every week. I have to say that the GM engineers and the Volt team did an incredible job on the design of this car not to mention the people that built it. Very quiet and tight! I know it's been said but I will say it again: Makes me proud to own an American Buit Car!! Good luck with yours! Oh, mine is Summit White. And you can pass this on to your father!

Thanks for the welcome. I have a round trip commute of about 25 miles four days a week, along with taking a kid to school and back on the other day that is an even shorter trip, so I'm looking forward to not buying too much gas.

Took delivery of my Volt yesterday, and it's only been about 25 miles of driving, but I love it. My kids fought this morning over who would be taken to school in it, and we had to compromise: one kid got drop off, the other gets pick up. They never did that with my Mini Cooper S.

My commute is about the same and I generally only use gas if I need to take a longer trip out of town. Overall, I am at over 86% EV and have only used about 21 gallons of gas since I picked mine up last October, 4600 miles ago.

Congrats! You will Love your Volt.
