    Default Hamtramck still painting/producing 1,000 a week/4,000 a month!

In three weeks of production GM has sent 3005 chassis to the paint shop! GM only reached this production pace for a short time in October so it is a first for GM to be building this many Volts for an extended period. The problem with this data is it doesn't say where these Volts are going. Some are going to Europe as Amperas, some are going to Canada as Volts, and about a quarter of them are going to sold as fleet cars. Do fleet deliveries count as "US deliveries" in the announcements we have been watching this past year? I am pretty sure they do, but not positive. Obviously Amperas won't count as US deliveries, but neither do Canadian Volts, I believe.
So here is hoping that production started soon enough for 1,000 Volts to be sold in February and maybe improved Californian sales will help GM sell 1700+ in March! I am still hoping to see these numbers match up to the 60k Volts per year they talked about before, so if you see 5,000 per month next week you will know GM is putting its money where its mouth is, but realistically, they are awfully close to a 60k production rate now.

    8/1 - C440 - building around 150 per week (first 100 were test cars)
    8/23 - C1736 - building around 420 per week
    09/1 - C3032 - building around 500 per week
    10/3 - C4260 - around 273 per week for Sept
10/17 - C6992 - around 1366 for each of the first 2 weeks of Oct
    10/25 - C8129 - around 995 for the third week of Oct
    11/1 - C8996 - around 873 for the fourth week of Oct
    11/8 - C9508 - around 512 for the first week of November
    11/16 – C10253 – around 745 for 8 days (rate of 652 per week)
    11/19 - C10372 – 119 in 3 days (rate of 278 per week)
    11/26 - C10921 - 549 in 7 days
    11/30 - C11581 - 660 in 4 days (rate of 1155 per week) or 1209 in 11 days (rate of 769 per week)
    12/19 – C13071 - 1490 in 19 days (rate of 549 per week)
12/27 -- C13775 - 704 in 8 days (rate of 616 per week, 704 wkly if you take off a day for Christmas)
    01/04 – C13775! – 0 in 8 days
    02/05 – C13775! – 0 in 38 days
02/17 -- C15710 -- 1935 in 12 days! It looks like they built nearly 2000 in two weeks!
    02/24 -- C16780 -- 3005 in 19 days but they haven't been building on weekends so...

Ziv, thanks again for doing this research!
The production trend effectively holds on! Hamtramck is at a 1000 Volts per week rate!
It will be nice to compare with the official production numbers, that will show up in 5 days.
We also are about to see the trend on how many deliveries for february?
I would guess we will see around 700 Volts delivered, in february!

Hey Driverguy ... François found out and BOUGHT a Black dealer DEMO Volt (fully equipped) from a Dealer in the USA. He's going to do all the papers himself to import it in Canada !!

He could not accept that his wife would get a Volt before him (in mid april) ... so he found a way to get one before her !! ;-)

The first family with two Volt in Quebec !!! YESSSS !!!

cmr, any idea on when you will be getting it delivered? It only got painted a little while ago (one week?) so it would be cool to know how fast these cars go from the paint shack to the dealer lot and home with their new owners. It seems like in the past it could be as little as a little over a week if you live near Detroit/Hamtramck and as much as a month if they had to have it put it on a semi to truck it to you on either coast.
And Francois, I, too, will be sitting at my computer next week to see what GM will deliver. I really want the Volt to succeed and since I can't see myself buying one yet, I am forced to resort to rooting from the sidelines. And my hope is that GM will deliver just over 1000 Volts this month, with California sales/leases pushing them over the top. But I think your number may be more realistic.

a volt adviser looked at it for me last week and said it is being held by quality assurance and they will have it between 1-3 weeks depending on the amount of cars they are looking at. after that it will go through the rest of the normal process coming to north east oklahoma. generally another 3 weeks in my past experience from ordering other gm cars. it took them 4 weeks to bring my 96 impala ss from fort worth texas. it's about a 6 hour drive from me. it sat in a lot in okc for 3 weeks waiting on a full load to come to tulsa.

Sorry I did not answer before, I was passing the snowblower in my driveway!

It's a matter of setting up my trip from Montreal to near Flint, Michigan, and bringing back the Volt. It will be done somewhere
in the next 30 days or so. So I should have B-2653 by the end of march, and my wife her Volt by the end of April. We are
    not reVOLTed about this! ;-)
To save the Michigan sales taxes (6% - about $2000) legally, I need that the car be delivered OUTSIDE from the state of Michigan.
They call this an out-of-state sale. If I pickup the car in Michigan, I then need to pay the sales tax.
So, I need to hire a transport from Flint to Port Huron. Once in Sarnia, Ontario, I will have a transit plate to bring the Volt
    back to Quebec.
It's another piece in this little puzzle, but I think that I will manage that! ;-)
I got B-2653, a dealer demo 2011, black, (same color as my wife's), fully equipped with ALL options, less than 4000 milles,
for $32705 + $190 dealer fees + transport to the border. I will have to pay the GST and QST when I will cross into Canada,
Plus the inspections fees (federal and provincial) and the usual license fees.
For the Quebec license, I will get the green license. Those licenses have a special logo identifying electric vehicules,
and are thus allowed to park and plug at specifically reserved places for EVs. Non-EV vehicules would get a parking ticket similar
to when parking into spaces reserved to handicapped people.

I will post some news about my importation process of the Volt in Canada!
