Default Hamtramck producing at a rate of around 4,000 Volts per month!

I did a quick search of Chevy.com and found a Volt with a VIN of C15710, which is 1935 higher than an exhaustive search of 9 zip codes turned up Feb 5th. So in two weeks, 10 business days, GM has sent 1935 Volt chassis to get painted. In the past these cars have taken from a little over a week to nearly a month to show up on dealer lots. The fastest turnaround was for cars sold in 48501, which oddly enough, is fairly close to the Hamtramck plant.
But the big point is that GM is not just continuing to build Volts, they are building them at just about the highest rate I have seen since October, which is the record for Volt production.
Here is hoping that GM continues to build the Volt at a high rate, and that the dealer offers we are seeing in California ($5700 off MSRP for fully kitted out Volts that don't get the HOV sticker) start to show up elsewhere in the US and Canada! And that the great deals start to show up on the base model Volts, as well!

    8/1 - C440 - building around 150 per week (first 100 were test cars)
    8/23 - C1736 - building around 420 per week
    09/1 - C3032 - building around 500 per week
    10/3 - C4260 - around 273 per week for Sept
10/17 - C6992 - around 1366 for each of the first 2 weeks of Oct
    10/25 - C8129 - around 995 for the third week of Oct
    11/1 - C8996 - around 873 for the fourth week of Oct
    11/8 - C9508 - around 512 for the first week of November
    11/16 – C10253 – around 745 for 8 days (rate of 652 per week)
    11/19 - C10372 – 119 in 3 days (rate of 278 per week)
    11/26 - C10921 - 549 in 7 days
    11/30 - C11581 - 660 in 4 days (rate of 1155 per week) or 1209 in 11 days (rate of 769 per week)
    12/19 – C13071 - 1490 in 19 days (rate of 549 per week)
12/27 -- C13775 - 704 in 8 days (rate of 616 per week, 704 wkly if you take off a day for Christmas)
    01/04 – C13775! – 0 in 8 days
    02/05 – C13775! – 0 in 38 days
    02/16 – C15414 – 1639 in 11 days!
02/17 -- C15710 -- 1935 in 12 days! It looks like they built nearly 2000 in two weeks!

Well if the predictions of huge gas price increases this spring pan out, it sounds like GM is getting ready for a mad rush.

Hopefully, GM is betting to be ahead of the curve on the rise in gas prices. Oil is up to 119+ barrel, meaning gas prices will be over 4.00 gallon for sure in a month. Then you have all the refinery's shutdown, with spring summer demand, it will be a good place to be having high mileage cars and the EREV Volt in the late spring and summer for sales.

If something happens in the middle east, we will see 5.00 gallon this year, mid 4's otherwise

Is there any way to determine the mix of Chevy Volts, Holden Volts and Opel / Vauxhall Amperas? It sounds like demand is very high in Europe, but GE is now putting in big orders for the Chevy Volt here at home.

Is it the 2012.5 model or the old style?

I don't believe they're producing any of the MY '12.0 cars, nor can I imagine they have any reason to.

It'll be interesting to see if the non-CA (and associated states) have the added emissions equipment as well...

    Hi, Ziv!
    Thanks for the statistics update!
I agree with you, Volts production was ramped up, when we check the VINs
as you say, most of VINs created goes to the market, so they show up later or sooner,
once they pass the transport and distribution process.

This should help to get the Volt more accessible, as there will be some that will enter the
used car market. Right now, there is a dealer in NJ that advertises new base 2012 Volts at a price
tag around $27000, when you apply all incentives to them:

For now, I still have a hard time to find a USED Volt at 30 000$
It seems it's cheaper to buy them brand new than used! ;-)

Add to that a fire and close down of the Cherry Point refinery in Washington State last night which will greatly affect Alaskan oil being refined for the West Coast.

What is the average tunaround time from the time that thecar is built then the dealer is invoiced and the transporter delivers it to the dealership? I am following a car that has a build date of 2/14/12 and it was then invoiced to the dealer on 2/15/12. The dealer is in Atlanta,GA. Not sure how long it will take to arrive since it appears to be just under 800 miles from the plant and a straight drive time of roughly 13 hours. Was not sure if the volts are shipped by rail or semi, but I assume it depends on the final destination. I had gotten tired of waiting for the build of the said unit, and decided to go for an in stock unit, but I found a few concerns with it(which one I mentioned in another thread) and returned it to the dealership today. I was told that the car that I was waiting on had been built and invoiced and was given the above mentioned dates. The sales manager was not sure on the delivery time frame to their lot though. Your experiences are appreciated as always!

If you have the VIN number you can track it here: http://gmconnects.com/

Usually takes about two weeks for shipping. It depends on a lot of things: time in QA, shipping schedules of trains, transport trucks, etc.
