Default Anyone been to the drag strip yet ?

I'm not really into how much gas $$ I saved
Curious to see what this puppy can do on the track. Best time with old vette on 1/4 mile track was 11.94 @121+ mph
Anyone been to the track yet ? No slicks allowed lol

Somebody has. It was in the high 8s if I remember. Generally speaking a long flat is not really your friend in a Volt. A Volt is quick but not really fast. It's best features are the low end torque and the linear acceleration. Start from a stop going into a turn and up a decent hill and you won't find many cars that can stay with you.

    Hi 8s ? R U kidding me ?
Maybe on 1/8 mile track and not 1/4 mile ?
If it is hi 8s, I know a bunch of folks who will be buyers shortly.

    Default LMAO!

I saw that one coming. Vette owners think quarter mile, Volt owners think 0-60.

OK, agree with that. Looked back on some old track tickets & my 1/8 time in vette was only 7.95 or so, so hi 8s didn't cut it.
0-60 in under 9 is not too shabby either for almost 3800 lbs.

There is a post here with pic of the time slip. Numbers were:

    60' 2.632 seconds
    330' 7.093 seconds
    1/8th mile time: 10.825 seconds
    1/8th mile mph: 65.63 mph
    1,000' time: 14.066
    1/4 mile time: 16.821 seconds
    1/4 mile mph: 81.61 mph

Thanks A-Z. That is really pretty good. I would have guessed in high 18s or 19s. The hp numbers throw you off, but the torque figs are really excellent, accounting for the zippy initial takeoff . Many a so-called luxury sport car can't match those numbers. Wonder how much the software holds it back ?

Some, I am guessing. At least for the first second or two. I don't really think you feel the full torque until around 10-15mph. And you should feel it from zero mph.

I know some folks were doing tests brake standing with the Volt. At least as far as power application goes, it trickles in the killawatts at first. But you can bypass some of that by brake standing. I haven't seen any actual numbers on how much it helps your 0-30 or 0-60 times, though. Just based on what I feel when I do it, I am thinking it's fairly negligible.

I've never been a fan of running it up against the brakes regardless of motor, and don't plan on any racing with this one, but as someone stated, it's nice to pull away at the lights
