Cool Hello from the San Francisco Bay Area

    Hey all,

    My Volt got built yesterday!!!

02/08/2012 - (3800) Order produced and vehicle is being prepared for shipping. For Cadillac, GMC and Buick customers, please contact your dealer or customer service for further updates as no further updates available at this time.

However, my dilemma is choosing between the Volt and the BMW ActiveE.

Congrats ... I think. Are you considering backing out of the order you made?

If you are talking about a two driver household and the other driver is female, forget it, you will end up with the BMW for sure.

Thanks Scott. I don't want to but the lease rate is a factor. I expect both will be available in 4 weeks.

You should have no trouble getting her into the Volt. I let a lady who dives a Prius drive my Volt yesterday, and her comment was it is a Lexus Prius. She loved the Volt.

Update! (4150) Invoiced (order is invoiced to the dealer)

Would the dealer now have enough info to speak about lease specifics? Two weeks ago they mentioned that they could not talk about lease specifics as they did not have the numbers.

If you and the dealer really wanted to, you could fully complete the transaction now (people who want to buy and are up against the calendar year have been known to buy just off the invoice). So yes, you may be able to convince the dealer to run all the numbers for your lease now.

The risk of buying off the invoice before arrival is of course that the car could get crunched in transit (rare, but it can happen). If you've bought off the invoice you'd then own a possibly totaled car. But none of that applies for the lease. The only risk I can see is they may not be able to lock in the interest until they can actually transfer ownership of the car...
