So do I. The ads have done nothing to defend the car, and they make Volt owners the butt of the joke.I change out cars often at times depending on how income is flowing. I am a big car guy and I continue to defend the Volt and endorse it. It pains me to see GM and the Volt getting abused by the media and politics. I wish GM was more aggressive defending it.
This is not so surprising; the Fisker is roughly $30,000.00 more than the Jag.I'm surprised you went with the Jag as well, with the Fisker Karma finally available and sales of the Tesla Model S only months away.
Rush Limbaugh and Fox's mis-characterization of electric vehicles as hazards is little different than the product terrorist who poisons a bottle of Tylenol, and places it back on the store shelf in order to kill sales of Tylenol. They should literally be arrested, not rewarded.
In my opinion, the bad rep is almost as much of the democrat's fault. They should know that labeling anything as 'green' is going to immediately turn off a large amount of people. The democrats need to focus on the energy independence, reducing trade deficit, and diversifying the transportation grid before the word 'green' even comes out of their mouth. That way you make it hard for the republicans to flat out dismiss it, and you don't immediately shut off the ability of the anti global warming to hear anything else than what they perceive to be bogus.
I have a meeting with one of my U.S. Senator's office in the next 3 weeks to state the same thing as well as other related issues.
You have to let them know you are dropping out of the program due to sale of the car. As long as you notify them, you are in the terms of the contract.
They are coming on Monday to remove the charger. They installed an outlet, so it's just a matter of unplugging the unit from the outlet and unscrewing it from the wall.
The outlet will still be there if I need it.

I would strongly encourage anybody in the market for an all-electric car to buy a Tesla Model S.
While I think the Nissan Leaf is fine for commuting, "we the people" really need to support our own car start-up companies. Tesla is a great company and the Model S is a great car and we really REALLY need it to succeed.
Think about the implications if Tesla goes down. Then go reserve a Model S (if you have the wherewithal).
Saving up to buy my Volt in CASH.
Don't believe any Chevy Dealership person. Know all facts before you go. Seriously.
A friend of mine is a development (read: test) driver for Tesla and he raves about the car. I've seen him driving it around here in the Bay Area a couple of times (on his way to Laguna Seca to flog it, notably) and it's beautiful.
I think that's a little over-dramatic. Starting a car company from zero is a HUGE risk no matter what technology is involved. We will be fine if Tesla fails, but it will definitely be a bummer. While I think the Nissan Leaf is fine for commuting, "we the people" really need to support our own car start-up companies. Also, I don't think it's clear yet that "Tesla is a great company." I've talked to enough ex-employees with horror stories about the place that I think it's clear that it's a company with great potential but no more at this point. Fingers crossed!
What implications, other than us being out half a billion dollars in tax money? It's not like this is the only iron in the US fire. We're on a Volt forum, after all.Think about the implications if Tesla goes down. Then go reserve a Model S (if you have the wherewithal).
Don't get me wrong - I think Tesla has a ton of potential. But it's far from a done deal.
- Mark, HOV-compliant Volt due around the 1st week of March
Good luck with the Jaguar. Based on my experience you'll need it. I've owned a few and they spent more time in the shop than on the road.
I just saw the film "Revenge of the Electric Car" last night. It covered in detail the trials and tribulations of Leon Musk and Tesla. He poured all the 195 million he made from selling PayPal into it, they even showed him transferring the last 3 million he had into Tesla to make payroll while awaiting a decision on the DOE loan. Since he was going through a divorce with 5 children, and was essentially broke, he admitted he was close to a nervous breakdown. Even during the best of times, he appears to be a driven difficult person to work with. He had to lay off employees during that period, so I am not the least bit surprised that there are horror stories from ex-employees....
And yes, the Model S looks fabulous.
Bad rap or no bad rap I am sticking by my Volt. I lease vehicles and this has been a bargain comparing even to Cadillac and BMW. Good luck Voltage. I hope all goes well with the Jag. It's really a sharp looking car.
