    Come on down!
I drive to Canada all the time (have passport will travel kinda thing and Canada's snowmobiling is second to none!) Anyway, get your canuck butts down here to NY State where dealers are easily taking $2-3,000 off of MSRP. The savings is more than enough to pay for the trip and the licensed broker that you will need to get it back home. My company has purchased quite a few trucks in Canada (up by Montreal) and had a nifty auto-broker take care of everything incl. all the paperwork as preset; it's a 1 hr border crossing breese. The key is the broker, some are slicker than others

Heck on a few purchases they never even looked at the vehicle we were bringing in! (of course we were going CA to US with the vehicle).

Hope you come on down and take away some of our Volts that we have sitting around down here in NY State!

    Been there, done that!
OK, I would need a dealer that's willing to sell me a NEW Volt for exportation, (They cannot sell one to me, as this violates
some agreements...) But all dealers can sell me a used Volt.
with 2 or 3 grand below MSRP, it would be nice, but it has be to never been registered,
else, I am not eligible for my Quebec buyer incentive of $7769 taken off the purchase price at the dealer.

But all dealers can sell me a used Volt. I calculate that the breakeven point is to purchase a $30 000 Volt
in the states, to match for the usage, gone warranty, depreciation, and costs to import.
The only thing is that actually, I nowhere found a $30000 2011 Volt on the market, but am ready for pointers.
The lowest priced units are at 34500 + dealer fees + transport to the border.

If I do a financial analysis, here I go:
New 2012 Volt in Used 2011 Volt in
    Quebec USA

    Price: 43000,00 $ 35000,00 $

    GST(5%) 2150,00 $ 1750,00 $
    PST(9,5%) 4289,25 $ 3491,25 $
    sub total: 49439,25 $ 40241,25 $
    incentive 7769,00 $ 0,00 $

    Net total: 41670,25 $ 40241,25 $

Then there is the brokerage fee to import a used Volt, the Federal vehicule inspection (canada) then the provincial vehicule inspection.
and the transport fee from the dealer to the border.

    Any suggestions?

    Francois

Not sure what people's thoughts on extended warranty are, I don't normally buy them but thinking about it for the Volt but obviously there is room to negotiate on the price.

My dealer's quote was pretty expensive, about $2500 for 5 year / 80,000

    Any thoughts?

I placed my order at $40,355 with everything except the navigation package included. After rebate, taxes, fees, some added accessories I ended up at $45,190 wheels on the road.

Now if only the puppy would arrive at the dealer... the CP Rail strike has sure delayed delivery.

My question- what demand is there for a used 2012 Volt from Canada. I'm 2 hrs from Windsor....

What kind of price range will be required since you won't be getting your gov't rebate? Or will simply being able to buy a Volt possibly push the used price above the range of (New$-Govt$)
