Drive For Innovation has released a timelapse video of the entire teardown:

One highlight is at the 1m00s mark when they lift up the trunk floor and get a look at the electronics mounted back there. At 1m40s they take the cover off the motor controller (under the hood), and right after that I was interested to see the components mounted on the front right corner, seemingly extremely vulnerable in a minor crash (thus apparently cheap/expendable?) But it gets a LOT more interesting at around the 3m00s mark, when they start showing the electronics guts. No view of the transmission though, see above for that.

I'm linking to this in the FAQ. If you came here from the FAQ, scroll up to the top of this thread for an article about the teardown.

If that's what I think it is, it's the charger (the AC to DC converter). Yes, it looks exposed. And I believe it is neither cheap nor expendable.

Yes it is not cheap, when I was trying to order a Level 1 ESVE (spare), I had to explain that I didn't need another charger, they'd quoted me over a grand, employee priced. Then We looked back at the ESVE's price and I'm going to get L2 installed at the house before I get a spare of the ESVE that came with the car
