Default Southern Vermont-Western Massachusetts-New York Capital Region Volt Group

I looking for other owners in my area so I can effectively lobby for Public access charging stations. We currently have none in Southern Vermont, one in Albany, none in Western Massachusetts.
I am currently writing letters to the Town Managers of Williamstown, MA., Manchester, VT.
I am trying to find out if there's a Northeast Chevrolet Dealers Association so I can get a general policy where Volt dealers would permit other Volt travelers access to the dealers' charging stations.

I don't think there are too many of us in the Northeast. I live in Southern NH and have yet to see another on the road. I quick google search only showed one public charging station in NH, located at a hotel in Concord. I like your idea about sending letters to Tow Managers. I guess it's time for me to start doing that, too. I'd love to see one in Manchester VT. I periodically visit. Keep warm!

I'm a bit late to the thread, but I'm a LEAF owner in Western Mass in the same situation.

Northampton, Holyoke and Greenfield received grants but it is taking a while for the state's contractor to get the work scheduled -- I heard that at least Northampton, MA is hoping sometime this summer.

Pittsfield, MA is talking about one in the downtown garage so a letter would help there.

The Albany area has several in poor locations. I can only see the downtown chargepoint working for my needs if I was headed to the Times Union Center.

    Default Volt in Manchester VT

    Hey Mark,

We own the volt in Manchester. The town of Manchester doesn't have any specific plans to get charging stations in town, but I know they're very interested, possibly even offering them for free.

A big roundabout project in the center of town is about to start, so that might be a possibly location. They've def started the discussion, but who knows what a potential timeline would look like.

Plus, if they knew of ev owners out of state interested in using charging stations in town, that would certainly help.

Default Williamstown MA Spring St Parking Lot Discovery

I can't make it from my home in VT to Williamstown Spring St. and back on all electric. But I discovered (after it was too late) that most of the light poles in the Spring St. parking lot have live 120v receptacles despite the associated lights above were NOT on. I hope the Town doesn't mind me snatching a couple of free kilowatts the next time I'm making this trip. One hour of charging may net me 4-5 miles back, just enough to go back and forth all electric in myVolt.

However the one 120v receptacle in the Al Ducci's parking lot in Manchester VT was not active probably because the associated light was not on. It's probably hot only when the the sensor or timer that regulates the light is on- a wiring difference compared to Williamstown.

I don't know if the Town of Manchester would be willing to rewire leaving the receptacle independent of the light. Or would they be willing to add receptacles to the other poles? There is knockout panel for this purpose on all the other poles.
