Thanks RickTheStick. Great interview, story ans audio link. Worth a read and a listen.

I need our engineer wonks and math spinners here to tell me if both men were right when stated that the fuel economy gains for the 2012 Buick Lacrosse with eAssist is a measly 3.5%, which they both stated or more likely 9% to 12% as it might show in the Fuel Economy.Gov link below. I think that this is a very importand distinction but I might be wrong. 12% gain Vs 3.5% gain? Makes for a far better soound bite if I am right!

    Thanks!

Thanks for the link. The interview definitely is worth listening to.

The thing that comes to mind is the clear gap between Volt owners who understand the fake "fire issue" and the general public, who only knows that the Volt catches on fire and is to be avoided.

We had the same thing arise at least a couple times this week with acquaintances who asked what we were driving after we sent our Volt back to GM. When we explain that we wouldn't even consider such an option, they are aghast, and repeat to us that the Volt is dangerous, and how we shouldn't be driving it. That's when I get mad and rail against the propaganda war being conducted against GM.

Cool You are so right WYHybrid

So, we are in the rotunda of our states' Capital last Thursday morning. The event is a press conference promoting current and future car and truck efficiency achievements. Naturally I am ready to shine on the money saving benefits, the safety and sure driving pleasure of our favorite car.

The press, print, tv and radio were there. Three of us spoke and after my turn I handed my Volt card to the sound guy from the local PBS station. He looked at me and smirked and said." "....You know what he said!

I felt the hair raise on the back on my neck! Here is a guy who should be far enough away from the media naysayers that I could not believe what I was hearing. He refused to even take the Volt that I brought for a convincing drive. I offered out of total frustration, man to man, to make a donation to his favorite charity, to leave his press credentials behind, drive the Volt, feel the power, experience the luxury fit and feel and follow the links on my fact sheet ...He declined, still smirking.

I checked my temper, smiled, gave him the facts rebuttal sheet, shook his hand and wished him the best.

Our event coordinator took me aside later and said that she was happy that I handled it so well after seeing the look in my eye.

So, we must get the facts out there, promote the facts and document the facts of the superior safety, quality and money saving of this amazing machine!

Sound like he's bought and paid for. Congratulations on your handling the situation so well. When people really understand this vehicle like we do things will change. Until then we just have to educate them and be patient and understanding with those that just can't grasp it.

They're talking about the start/stop part of eAssist. There are other parts which further reduce gas usage.

Hello Sundance, I'm new to the forum, but long time reader of this site. I think they are talking about the Stop/Start technology giving you a 3.5% gain, not eAssist.
Looks like I'm a little slow, DonC already responded while I was listening to the audio.
