When I mentioned I was buying a Volt on my own forums, one of the wags asked me about the flux capacitor - then linked me to the Delorean retrofit outfit. I passed - very expensive and it's no Volt in regards any spec or the quality. Neat, but...not too real.

I always had a like for the DeLorean. And if I won the Lotto, it would be among the 20 or so cars I would buy. But never Electric, as that's not how it was built. I'm not into retrofits really, I'm not convinced that's the way to go. That's what power companies did years ago. Of course, it was lead acid at the time, and you couldn't go far. Now mating a Voltec drive system to a DeLorean, and getting a 5 star crash rating would be a whole different ballgame.....

I was giving very serious consideration to buying a DeLorean a couple years ago. But it would have to be a second car since I wouldn't feel right about driving it in the winter after they've salted the streets. It's art to me. Which would also mean buying a second parking spot. So I decided against it.

It's completely impractical. It's under powered, gets poor milage, and lacks features. But it's so.... freaking... cool.

I really don't understand the hype about the Delorean. I have one but I can't compare it to my Volt (#1509). 30k and I will sell my Delorean which is in excellent shape

I agree with all of you ... in my eyes, the EV Delorean is an Iconic, cool and sentimental car (I was a kid when I saw Back to the Future at the theater, and I remember as if it was yesterday about how impressed I was).

If I was rich, I would get one as a collection car and use it only for showing it when going downtown ...

But my Volt is so ... practical and useful, and the best choice choice for my transportation needs !!
