Default 1st service trip; Fuel Door Sensor & Tire Leak

Called my dealer (Bob Johnson- Rochester, NY) a couple of weeks ago and told the service mgr. about my charge port door sensor and how it reads open (on the main display) even though the door is closed (sometimes) and the repair was for a replacement (thanks to these forums!). He said "absolutely no problem Mr. Miller, I will take care of this for you and we're sorry to hear you had a problem with your 2012 Volt". He called back today and said the new door was now in, so I made my appointment for tonight after I close my store (yes, the service dept is open till 8pm!).

I also have a very slow leak in the RR tire. I lose only ~2lbs a week. They are going to look at that also.

VERY HAPPY w my 50-mile-away-from-me dealer so far, I got $2,000 off MSRP back in Sept. and I guess it was still worth the savings for the drive(s). I'll report back tomorrow with my "should be easy to fix" results.

I've had 3 leaks in two different tires so far - 2 nails and one screw. I haven't a clue why my car has been more attracted to hardware than our other vehicle - must just be my luck, because my daughters have the Goodyear Assurance FuelMax tires on their cars with no problems.

Discount Tire has been really great; taken care of all 3 at no cost. I went ahead and purchased the tire certificates (got them for $64 total, all four tires).

I like the TPMS - at least I can tell before things have gone too far.

Service complete. Great service dept at Bob Johnson's- Rochester, NY, you drive up to 1 of the 2 overhead staging doors, they open, you get out inside a heated "repair mall". A CS rep gets your info and drives off within (out of sight). To the waiting room, nice leather recliners, flatscreen (of course) and wi-fi for my ipad, full array of coffee and hot choco complimentary. Nice! This dealer is not a private dealer but a GM hub so it is run to GM's specs, way more impressive than my local dealer ever thought of.

--Charge door sensor warranty replaced estimated 2hrs. >Actual: 2hrs (how do they do that?

--RR Tire, found small screw in it. Repair to vulcanize heat seal from inside, remount and balance $21.95 +tx Actual 1/2hr

So in at 2pm out at 4:30 and with a nice caffeine buzz. I had several customers who were waiting w me ask about the Volt after a Serv Mgr came up to me to tell me about my tire. He was loud enough that everybody heard "Sir, we found a small screw in your tire on your Volt....". After he left the peeps spoke up. I heard every crazy myth you could think from what do you do when you run out of juice to (and of course) the fact that they lol "catch fire all the time". Asked what it's like to drive one? I simply said get a test drive but be prepared to trade in your old car for one right after! I actually had fun waiting the 2-1/2 hrs
