Okay, I'm going to leave it at this -- the key to great advertising is to make something seemingly as boring as explaining technology interesting, and even dramatic, to both sexes. That's what we get paid for. Oh -- and by the way -- don't pick fights with competition like established luxury nameplates on terms you can't win.

Thanks for checking in. See ya,

So you change the terms to favor the Volt over the rest in that price range, as I said in my earlier post.

Yep, I agree. You have to go after the people that want and can afford a $40K car. It's a huge mistake that the bulk of the people looking at the car are getting sticker shock by the $40K so much so that they won't even consider the savings. They just turn around and march right out of the dealership (or go buy a Cruise). Worse are the ones that hit the Internet comment sections complaining to no end how they have been wronged by the government for using their tax dollars to make cars they can't afford!

These people flat out don't qualify to buy a $40K car. So make sure they don't show up. How in the heck did GM let the economically below average car purchaser think that the Volt is a car that homeless people would be able to afford?!?!

But, like me, if you are only willing to drive $40K+ cars, and are financially qualified to do so, how cool is it that you can have a $40K car ownership experience while getting $7500 back in a lump and then $200 a month back in gas savings!

Stick that in your iPad and smoke it!

Agree, the target of any new technology are people that can afford the cost or people that sacrifice to have the new technology, thats the target market not average Joe.

It's going to be hard for GM/Chevy to market against oil. Mainly because all their other vehicles use oil-based fuels.

I still like my idea of:

Tim A as Buzz Lightyear owning a Volt, unplugs for his commute saying: "Electric Commute ... And Beyond!"

The naysayers mainly say there is no "Value Proposition" for an EV. This value is dollars only. Has nothing to do with energy conservation, efficiency of EM over ICE, pollution, planet longevity, whatever. Just dollars.

Thes Volts, Leafs and others are showing "value" to many who care about more things than money. If your fuel in life is not dollars - then you'll find the value.
