You know, I'll bet you a dollar that when Bush lite was giving big tax credits to anyone buying a 5000 lb or heavier suv for "business" and every real estate agent ran out and bought one, that REP. Kelly didn't cry out in alarm at that.
Seems to me he ought not order any Volts if he is so opposed, maybe all Chevrolets at that..

You will have to notice that, when reading the comments, most of those who oppose have written intelligent, well-informed comments. Most of those who agree appear to have written uninformed comments and continue to propogate rumors such as the batteries have been proven to catch fire, while forgetting this fact (and common sense) about gas engines.

However, I may be just a little biased towards opposing the bill, so read the comments for yourself. Show me a well-informed agreeing comment, and I will applaud that person for weighing the facts before making their opinion known.

Don't forget, as so many Republicans forget, that it was G. W. Bush who created the EV tax credit. It was only after Obama continued and expanded the policy that the Republicans came to hate it.

Here's an idea. End the current EV subsidy program. Also end the oil subsidies and spend just the first year's savings on energy independence. Say $1B to subsidize the next 130,000 EV's at $7,500 each, $1B to build public charging infrastructure, $1B on battery research, and $1B on research on bio-fuel, solar, wind, and thorium nuclear energy. http://www.bostonherald.com/news/us_...il_tax_breaks/

Guess, I don't quiet understand GM's position having a franchised dealer acting like this against one of their flagship halo vehicles. They should have revoked his dealer agreement like they did when they closed all of those dealerships during the reorganization process. Just doesn't make sense to have your own representative blasting your top product?

I see both sides of the issue. I don't think, generally, that other taxpayers should be on the hook for my desire to buy a Volt. On the other hand, as tax incentives go, this is a reasonable one which will further an important national goal (less dependence on foreign oil and supporting future technological leadership by our major auto manufacturers).
Overall, though, I'd rather GM take a "loss leader" approach and subsidize the Volt themselves.

This credit is about to release us from DEPENDANCE, four oil, hospital environment, and hope that people will use it to buy American goods, paid to them, our country, our e-government is serious.
