Got the Volt back this afternoon and appears that all was a 'painless' exercise; got a car wash, full tank of gas (I was down to 1/2 gal when I took it in) and my first oil change has been done. Think I saved half the cost of that with the free gas fill-up. They even 'wanded' my tires, after the rotation that I did myself..........apparently, removing the battery, requires TMS reset.

The only outstanding item is they had to order a new grommet for my front floor mat........do that one later.

I know for sure that I didn't get the 'hold' mode by accident in the software update............not sure about the 'Very Cold Temp' update, I will have to check that one out. New 120v charge unit looks almost identical to my original but heavier gauge cord.

My battery is now fully protected for its full, extreme, upside down, side impact test...........but I'm not wishing for that any time soon.

My Volt life is good........................sure beats my temporary ride in the '12 Cadillac DTS loaner!

Wondering if anyone else had a problem with this.... The thermostat just failed on my Volt. The check engine light came on a few miles after the dealership installed that battery safety enhancement. A Volt Specialist just called me... claiming the failure and the battery work appear unrelated.... so it's purely coincidental? Seems ODD

    Still LOVE the CAR!

I dont know it this is the same thing that happend to me or not, but right after I had the mod done, my car would not charge, CEL on, took it back and they said that the must have bumped the temp sensor for the charger cooling while doing the mod, said that this had happend before and they would double check it on all future jobs.

Well I doubt it would have been the "temp sensor" for charger cooling. Exactly what DTC was set? Did you ask Onstar to "scan" the car and write down the DTCs? If it's for the battery coolant LEVEL, there HAS been some issues with getting ALL of the air out fo this cooling system after it has been drained for the enhancement campaign. The procedure has now changed twice and new scan tool deriven "overrides" and significant time and attention to detail required to insure all the air has been purched before trhe final coolant level is "set" in the battery coolant reservoir. What has happened numerous times now (as reported here on these forums by at least a hlf dozen owners) was a CEL for a low battery coolant caused by a "burp" of air finally occuring, which drops the coolant level in the reservoir enough to trigger the all-new level sensor that's included with the new reservior installed during the campaign.

If you have a low reservoir, take it back to the dealer, have them top the coolnet up to the level of the MID SEAM of the tank (no higher, despite what's marked on the reservoir) and if neccc clear the DTC. (or just drive it and the CEL will clear itself after a couple of drive cycles)
