Default NY Volt in the Wild!

Had my Volt over a year now, and tonight I saw my first other Volt in the wild!

I was driving through Ballston Spa NY and came up right behind him. It was dark out so I'm guessing they didn't even know there was another Volt right behind them. I did chirp the pedestrian horn a few times before we parted ways, but if they're not a die hard Volter, they may just think I was some crazy person! LOL

I live in Fairfield County, Connecticut and spotted my first "in the wild" Volt almost a year ago. It had a Michigan plate and might have been a GM corporate fleet vehicle in my area for the unveiling of the car charging units at the Norwalk, CT train station.

Since then, excluding my own Volt, I've seen at least 25 others on the road at various points in the New York Metro area. Not sure why that number is so high. Part of it could be that GE is buying thousands of Volts over the next few years and already has hundreds in their fleet. GE's corporate HQ is in Fairfield, about 20 miles from me and some of those Volts might be driven by GE employees. Even so, that's maybe -- what? -- five cars?

While the metro NY City area may have a good number of Volts, Rural areas in general in general have not been good for Volt sales.

Last winter/spring I had been unsucessfull at finding a Volt for sale in Michigan at less than $2000 over MSRP. Finialy a Volt advisor found one, in Goshum NY, at MSRP. To my astonishment it had been on the lot for over 2 months at MSRP and the only other Volt that that dealor had had for sale had also been sold to a out of state buyer.
