Default Googlemaps -to- OnStar -to- your Chevy Volt!

I just wanted to in-depth this a bit more as I think some may be missing out on this awesome little feature we Volt/OnStar owners have (special thanks to Brett Circe)

So I planned a trip this weekend to Washington DC. Typed in my first destination address in googlemaps and sent a total of 4 to my Volt...

    -My hotel
-FedEx Field Brown Parking lot (we got tix to the Vikings / Redskins game this Sat. Xmas eve day)
-Lincoln Memorial (just to get in the heart of sightseeing as my 15yr old son has never been there before)
    -Ruth's Chris' steakhouse

Once in my car, after the Onstar light came on (as in video above) I tapped it and spoke "Virtual Adviser" and from there you can say "List" to name out your last 5 uploaded destinations. Once you hear the destination you want to load (store) you say "That one" and within seconds you have that destination on your screen to 'Go' or as I did 'Save' them for my trip usage. So much easier than using the type-in method within the car's screen.

Hope you find this as useful as I did,
    Happy Holidays!

Cool video overall. The video is in accurate because google changed their interface.
Google changed the way you send an address to your Volt. I updated my thread here:

This is a great service but it is rather limited in its use because Its not really any quicker than typing in an address (both methods are pretty slow). I wish the navigation system had a QWERTY keyboard instead of one in order (or at least the option to change it to one).

And its way more limited than hitting onstar and having them send it in.

Though I too wish it had a QWERTY option

I use the Google maps "Send to Car" option regularly and really like it.

Scott: Yes, G-Interface has changed but I figured anybody with 1/2 of an Internet brain could figure that out easy enough

Not Quicker? Well 1st off you do have a QWERTY with your computer so that is not in question. Doing the above method also lets you download the directions at your driving convenience. So send the multiple locations to your Volt from your home/office, view/use as you need at your convenience.

If you call Onstar for a live voice there are hold times during busy hrs. so that is not "the" answer but with maybe a single destination that would be my favored choice (but not multiple destinations as what this post was about)

And yes we all wish we have full QWERTY onscreen but that isn't going to happen.

It's better to send the destinations in reverse order. That way you don't have to wait for it to go through all 5 stops to get to your first destination.

Using google search ability is so much easier than typing into the Nav. I never do that.

95% of the time, I call OnStar in the car. An I use that almost daily because I am all over town just about every day. It's great to have them do the googles for you and use your current location to find the right place.

You can also use the Mobile app to send destinations directly to your Nav system without going through the OnStar Virtual Advisor at all. It's actually quite fast.

Wow ... you thought the new chain "link" was intuitive. I think it is pretty bad actually and surprisingly non-google-like.

Thanks for the insult! LOL Took me quite a while. I didn't find burying the feature in the "Link" to be very intuitive.

I've never had a wait with OnStar. Interesting that there can be one, which makes sense since in a survey they asked about that. Your point is well taken but generally for me a wait would not be a big deal. If it's close I won't need directions. If it's further away waiting just means I miss the instructions on getting out of my neighborhood!
