Default Fix for broken search/ what new etc.., and workaround for everyone).

Something in the config is broken and inserting
    php-bin/search.php?...

    rather than the correct
    forum/search.php?

To everyone else, if you hit what's new (or whater ever and get the ) error
The requested URL /php-bin/search.php was not found on this server.

Just edit in your browser url window replacing the "php-bin" with "forum" (no quotes on either)
and you'll be able to search.

I saw your post and tried clicking it to see what the fix was and got the error. Not being able to see what your solution is due to the error, I am posting this telepathically. Very hard to do. :-)
