    Default Voltec charger plug

I bought a Voltec level 2 charger from SPX and had a local electrician install it yesterday. Everything seems to be working fine. But unplugging from the Volt is tricky. The plug seems to stick. Has anyone else had this experience? Any suggestions? Does it loosen up a little with use?

If I am very careful to pull it straight out, it seems a little easier. But the plug on the included level 1 charger was nowhere near this "sticky" to unplug.

Ditto. I noticed the same thing. The 240v SPX Voltec unit is a tighter ("sticky") fit. The 120v is a much smoother in and out.

Aren't all J1772s supposed to be identical? I experience a bit of "stickiness" with both my 120 and 240v units. I think that you are right that the secret is to hold it straight. If I try to push it in on any angle at all it tends to bind. I find the plugs to be a bit on the flimsy side and I do wonder how they will hold up long term. I've been using mine since March, and so far so good however. Isn't J1772 an SAE spec? I guess/hope that they know what they're doing, LOL.

Spec or no, the 120v handle slides in easier than the 240v.

Yeah, you get used to it pretty quickly. I have one SPX at work and one at home, both tight and secure.

Try putting a little WD 40 or any lubricant on the edges where the plastic parts connect. It will really help making the connect and disconnect smoother

Careful which lubricant you use. Some will eat plastic!

I suggest paraffin or candle wax around the edge. Don't use any lubricant that could collect dust.
