Can you transfer music from iPod to HDD?

I would like to transfer my iPod music to the HDD. Is this possible? If so, how. No instructions in the owner's manual.

IPods are apparently prohibited from copying their files out to most other devices (copy protection?)

However, if you get the files onto a flash drive or most other mp3 players, (anything with a USB port) they can then be copied onto the Volt's hard drive.

I bought a 16 GB Maxell thumb drive from walmart.com for $14. A great price. Works fine.
