I wear Blu-Blocker clip-ons over my regular glasses (I am myopic and I need them to drive) for over fifteen years. When the sky gets cloudy, I just flip them up like a convertible top! When I'm not driving, I keep them in a velcro-attached cloth bag near my dash which I can reach by touch. No need for unused sunglass holders or compartments!

I'm old enough to need regular glasses all the time now and they are my sunglasses too. So, I never have to look for them or store them in the car.

That makes you a NERD! But, never fear, when you DO get your Volt, you will be cool anyway, so never fear.

And yes, this is just in fun...

I miss the outside locking storage compartments on my Avalanche, the over-sized center console, and air conditioned seats (I live in AZ)

This. I always wondered why they even put glasses holders on cars when they didn't fit any glasses. I guess it's good to hear that they work for normal pairs. I guess I need to give up the rockstar ones too.

I miss the upper console sunglass holder in my Camry hybrid. I know, the sunglasses now go in that storage compartment on the Volt dash, but it's not the same...in the upper console is so much more "civilized." Also miss the left hand storage drawer in the dash of the Camry...was great for change. Had $60 in quarters when i traded:-)

It is significant that these convenience complaints are minor. Note to designers: when deciding what to include/exclude or where to put things, think in terms of what is in the cars people will be trading in. The recent list showed most Volt trades are from Prius and Camry hybrid...so don't be so quick to dismiss lack of sunglass holders and change drawers. They are not minor to us. (Still adjusting to going from two cabin air filters to...none...ahem...)

But major points to GM for not "cheaping out" on the interior quality! I would have bought a Leaf, were it not for the cheap-o, crap-o interior, which was insulting.

BTW, the worst recent example I've seen of interior "design" was on the BMW 335d. It's cupholders, stored in the dash, swung out as flimsy arms suspended in mid-air over the center console! ("Let's suspend hot beverages over people's laps!") Apparently they concocted this Rube Goldberg contraption because they wanted to use the space near the center console shifter for a dash video controller; and there was also a hand brake there, which should have been banished to the floor. When will designers stop thinking of cupholders as 'wasted space' demanded by the riff-raff, (a.k.a. their customers)?

The Volt has a holder for a cabin air filter, which is empty by default. <$20 and 5 minutes can give you a cabin filter.
